We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

I almost transferred to a college with a warmer venue. Had my application all filled out and ready to go; a friend from high school also attending App talked me out of it...helps she was damn gorgeous. Threw the application, already stamped in the back seat and almost forgot about it.

Then one of those many winter days that year I stopped to get gas on the way to class. I lived out by the airport at the time and the gas station I stopped at was just across from the hospital. Back then the cost of gas was posted on metal signs that hung freely. It was snowing like the devil and cold enough the freeze the balls off a brass monkey. After I opened the door covering the gas cap I found snow had blown in, and packed in around the cap…forcing me to remove my glove to get all the snow out from around the cap. Putting the nozzle into the tank I looked up to see what the cost per gallon was so as to know how much I could afford to pump (remember those days). To my astonishment the, rather heavy metal sign was flapping in the wind, almost perfectly horizontal to the ground in a way that I never was able to see what the gas was going to cost. After pumping enough gas to get to class and back and paying, I decided I would be a bit late to class that day as I wanted to make sure my application for transfer made it out that day. Which, I’m sure it did.

Fortunately for me by the time my acceptance came from said warmer climate school, spring had sprung in Boone and who in their right mind would ever want leave that? Not I. I met my wife there, had my first child there and last summer saw my second daughter graduate from there as well.
I wish anyone leaving our school all the best of luck. The winters can be rough but man, Spring, Summer and Fall cannot be matched anywhere on earth. Love it or leave it as they say…I say LOVE IT! :D

I believe that is Middleton that's going to Campbell.
I believe it was Greg Millhouse ---
You are correct. Not sure why I put Middleton. Didn't mean to start a rumor.

We have so little information to go on, yet we treat them like criminals. To date, we know that he is not on the roster and that he appears to be frustrated with Boone. Poorly worded tweet? Yup. But does that rise to the level of our board administrator calling him a tool? And I'm betting at some point in our time in Boone we've all felt the same way about the weather. I sounds from his tweets that he is going through some sort of personal dilemma and is trying to take charge of his future. Give the kid a break.
I've never read any such posts about Millhouse or any other player who decided to transfer. People were just venting about a kid making disparaging comments about the school that just game him some free education. I don't see anything wrong with that. It was the statement, not the decision to transfer, that has brought out the venom.

He is a tool.

I just wonder if there is a Mallard Creek Connection to the two from MC....with one leaving and one de-committing?

I am just asking!
Go APPS!

I agree completely. Covington was actually a good player so I don't think "playing at this level" was the issue. Folks are a little sensitive it appears, but I assume that's just because of a perceived slight to the school / program that we all love. I doubt his comment was intended to be an actual slam on either the school or the team. My guess is that it's just his personal spin to make his decision to leave "make sense" in the public perception and to salvage his own dignity. Hate to lose the depth, but he will be replaced. Good luck to him.

Maybe when Covington and Millhouse are gone and they have signed somewhere else they will post their reasons for leaving.
Let’s not fool ourselves it's not always the players fault they leave a program.

These are still kids, away from home, girlfriends, settling into a life of early wake ups, lifting, class, film and it's a grind. It could be personal relationships, homesickness, disillusion with college football or now being a fish in the pond instead of the big fish, academics, coaches....God knows what. My son was excited about going to NC State got there and just didn't sync, partly due to maturity , however transferred to Kentucky and did well there. I would hazard a guess that the percentage of the general student population leaving after a year or 2 isn't much different than the sports teams. My wife's cousin played 1 year of basketball at Jacksonville U and transferred to Northern Kentucky. Chemistry with the school, teammates and missing family. Whatever the reasons Greg and Anthony are leaving I'm sure if it were your kid you would support them. I'll miss them but they gotta do what is right for them. It's personal for them and we should not take it personal.

I don't think anyone is taking their leaving personal. i think it was Covington's tweet about the "cold and mountain man s**t" wasn't for him. i guess some took that as a slight to university, town, culture etc. that we've all experienced and some probably love

it was a negative thought he tweeted out and has since, i believe, removed it which was probably a good idea

Since we are thin in the secondary, I'm hoping our coaches are calling this kid:

Would do nothing for depth this year since he would have to sit out

Good point. Regardless, we are likely going to need to add some depth even after this season in the secondary.

Re: Roster Updates

New roster is posted as of this morning. We've added 10 Walk-On players and lost three from last years group. Current roster stands at 111. I know there are a couple more walk-on's to add as I'm following them on twitter but they won't be listed until the start of the semester even though they are in school now. I'll update as soon as they are added. Listed below are the new guys and the three that have left. I also went through and did a comparison to last year. Many have gained weight but several have also lost. I've highlighted the ones who have lost in red. Most are small changes but a few are big (Bronson, Burns, Harris, and Counts are the most interesting). Take it with a grain of salt right now as there might be a few updates coming. For example, the new roster shows OL Parker Collins at 6' 5" and 270 (that 2" more but 20 lbs less). We've chatted on twitter before so I asked him about it. He says the listing is wrong. Says he's still 6' 3" and 295, 5 lbs more than last year, and still building with the new S & C program (interesting that 6' 5" 270 is exactly the same as newcomers OL Madison Malone and Ol Owen Painter. Have to wonder if it was just a typo). I've change him on my list below. Also, Tyson Fernandez is still listed as an OL (up to 345 BTW) but I've checked with sources and they say he is an NT (the top paragraph on his bio page says he's now a NT even though they list him at OL. Go figure) I left him in the DL section below.

Added:
Absher, Brad WR 5-10 170 Fr. Troy, N.C. (West Montgomery)

Sorry everybody. For some reason the post above isn't as neat as I typed it up. I had everything spaced out and it shows that way in my box but every time I submit it crams the names and sizes together. I've quit trying to fix it as it's making me mad right now.

Thanks Moose. Sounds like App needs a quality control person to check those figures. No way we have linemen who were already light for their positions dropping 20 (or 40!) pounds each, unless those weights were taken immediately after a monthlong, teamwide bout with food poisoning.

I'm going to keep a check on it daily and see if anything changes. I know there were a ton of changes but it looks like some brain freeze happened, at least on some. We'll know more soon enough.

I remembered that after I put him in the deleted list but I was a bit busy and didn't say that he had gone closer to home. Including the new walk-on's we've got 5 kickers right now so with Critcher solidly in at punter that leaves 4 more fighting out for FG and KO duties with Matics listed at top right now. Better chance at PT at Western.

Beat me to it. If Mark got a medical redshirt for the torn hamstring last year, he should have two years of eligibility left.
