The folks in charge got it in their head that our game day atmosphere needed to be updated. For what ever reason they didn’t and don’t seam to understand what traditions are or why they work. Said it many times, less PA music and more of the band, bugler’s dream on ever kick off, just let the App State chant happen and get out of the way, but it can’t happen with the PA system playing, hells bells to get things started on 3rd down and stop playing music between every down, the crowd can’t get involved. This is not that hard. The students have always and will continue to get involved in these traditions. It doesn’t matter how old these things are, in fact the older the better because that means more folks have experienced them and know them. To those of you who say it all has to be new, just take note during the game. Everybody, including the students respond to the traditions. It’s simply, they have experienced these thing and they know what to do. For those who want these things back my advice is to make you position know and more importantly, participate when you get the chance. Respond when the band plays buglers dream, do the App State chant, get loud on third down. Sorry for being so long winded.QueencityApp wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:13 amOur AD having to tweet that the APP STATE chant will "be back" is laughable. To be quite honest I'm scratching my head wondering how our fan base (much less the Gameday Operations personnel) allowed that part of the pre-game atmosphere/tradition to go unnoticed for any game. The poster that had the running list of 10 or so App St gameday traditions was spot on. When I go to Kidd Brewer that is exactly the list of traditions I want and expect to see game in and game out.
If you get a chance YouTube Texas A&M's (midnight yell or first yell). Basically the night before the first football game about 25k people show up in their stadium and student leaders lead an orientation on gameday chants. I'd think it could be a good opportunity during App's first week of orientation the student Yosef club and gameday operations team get together and have something like that in Kidd Brewer.
I know I'm preaching to the choir here with the die hards but when I read about DG having to tweet on the chant that took the cake.

I hope DG is reading this because again I say the canned music that plays up to the snap takes away the crowd opportunity to be loud. Also before the BOD gets in the stands during the kickoff (they are never set) just stay in the endzone and play Buglers Dream.....
And while we are using Coach Moore.....Have him ( or Luke combs or Armanti or peacock) make a screen appearance saying " Come on Mountaineers we need some noise" they do this in the Panthers games

What happened to the De - Fence (followed by two claps or pounding the bleachers) chant? All we seem to do now is sustain a long "ohhhhhhh". I got excited when a few of us in 111 actually did it last game, but we need the whole stadium participating. We do have actual "cheerleaders", right? They should be leading some of these cheers.

I don’t know if I should even broach this subject, but I will anyway, as I am a staunch defender of Yosef’s right to bear his Kentucky long rifle. I missed hearing it after every touchdown. The fireworks are okay, but they should accompany the sssssffftboom of Yosef’s gun. I did hear it at the end of the game, which was a welcome sound.

The last part of this post makes a great point and one I haven’t mentioned in a while. We do have cheerleaders, a band, a dance team, the students in the stands and the guys on the field. The day should not be given over to someone sitting behind a computer controlling a video board. The day should first and foremost be about the students. I’m so proud of the fact that we give our students some of the best seats in the stadium. Now lets give them back the whole day!!!gsoappfan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 1:07 pmWhat happened to the De - Fence (followed by two claps or pounding the bleachers) chant? Did they not do that anymore? Or did they yield it to the ROTC crew? Maybe it's dependent on how comfortable the person playing Yosef is with a rifle?AppinVA wrote: ↑Wed Sep 11, 2019 4:27 pmI don’t know if I should even broach this subject, but I will anyway, as I am a staunch defender of Yosef’s right to bear his Kentucky long rifle. The ROTC does shoot the rifle after touchdowns, along with fireworks.hotrod2001 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 7:26 amDid they not do that anymore? Or did they yield it to the ROTC crew? I do miss Yosef doing it after touchdowns and during the band's pre game routine before the team comes out. But I doubt that will make a come back for "political reasons"

I only heard/felt it after the game, but I could be wrong — though I was listening for it. It’s just the reason I need to figure out how I can get to Boone for the Coastal game.GregPercussion wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 7:34 amThe ROTC does shoot the rifle after touchdowns, along with fireworks.hotrod2001 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 7:26 amDid they not do that anymore? The video board should only be used for replays and score updates.
Let the band of distinction do their thing.
The whole "vote for your favorite of these two sucky songs" thing needs to go away!
Oh.... and a little ACDC here and there is ok and must return.
