Sadly we are now irrelevant. We had a good run but NIl has destroyed us. Mediocrity here we come.

All other things being equal would having JA at QB would have made much difference? Those lost TD’s at the end zone would not have been positively impacted by him. The line would be the same, defensive backs the same. I doubt we beat Boise with him. Don’t get me wrong would be great but as I said, all other things being equal.

I hate to say this, I really do. But the culture at App State sucks. Wasn't it after we got boat raced by South Alabama that the Chairman of the BoT took time to basically said no one remembers wins and losses? That was my "what the eff is going on here" moment.
Honestly, this is true. Culture has diminished; from the team, students and game day. It’s more important to be flashy than anything.

My only hope is that the new chancellor realizes and is a champion for change. She is really the main person now involved with app of the past; and app of today

We were behind the chains the entire second half (and most of our 9 first downs were converted on 3rd down or by penalty). A Dowell Loggains offense had about 4 yards passing in the second half and they had almost the same interception return yardage as we had passing.

Our receivers has no separation.
Where were the misdirections, jet sweeps, shovel passes, qb runs, rollouts to get our QB out of constant pressure? Other than his early drop, why couldn’t we get the ball to Barnes?

After a bye week, our OC couldn’t scheme anything to get chunk yardage or move the chains on first or second down?

A lot to unpack after a night of frustration. Watch D Lo’s post game interview if you haven’t. He sees it clearly. My opinion. So now we find out how good the staff is , short term can they maximize returns on the talent we have and what’s left? Long term, can they build a roster within our resource level to compete with top G5s ? NIL is beyond their control, Boone is just not a rich NIL environment. Pay for play is a separate issue. Two different things. We are paying one football player this year more than we paid our entire basketball team last year , I am told. Any success our Olympic sports have is that much more impressive as they are being sacrificed to invest in football. Is this right or wrong? I don’t know but that’s what we are doing. Programs all across the country are bringing in thirty to sixty new players and will be from now on unless the system is changed. We are not an outlier. We have played poorly three games in a row , making a lot of the same mistakes again and again. Either the players change that or we need to change who is playing. Finally , in my opinion, we need a dual threat quarterback to succeed in today’s game or a stud offensive line. We have neither.

We just don't have the talent we are accustomed to seeing on the field.

I feel bad for everyone that flew out for this. Hopefully the town was fun.
Everything about the game except for our performance has been top notch.
That's good to hear! I'm glad it was nice otherwise, it's such a long trip out there.

It’s really not but it takes a reasonable level of intelligence and football knowledge. How is it weird to call a 5-7 team not good?

Boise State is a better team than A&M in 2022. That isn’t a weird take.

I’m also not patting ourselves on the back? We weren’t good enough tonight, but that doesn’t mean we are a terrible team yet. Are we that far beyond decency, common sense and intelligence that we can’t have reasonable takes anymore?
Again no one was expecting a win but to get beat by 40 by this Boise team is unacceptable. We didn’t lose lines this to sec schools when we were FCs. You are arguing to argue which is typical for this board.
But we did…
2014: L to Michigan 52-14
2013: L to UGA 45-6
2011: L to VT 66-13
2010: L to UF 48-10

I am not arguing to argue. I am arguing to hopefully have reasonable discussions on football performance. I’ve not called it acceptable one time. I’m just trying my best to explain it, other than calling for firings and degrading the players or staff. I can’t help it if people struggle with facts or having reasonable discussions.
We never played against Virginia Tech
We've played VT at least 2 times since about 1985
I think only once. We definitely didn’t play VPI in 2011. I don’t know why people make up that game happening.
Give 'em hell!

No offense to your comment, but I disagree. We don't have the coaches we used to have. The plays are just so predictable and so vanilla it takes a perfect thrown ball and a circus acrobat catch to complete a pass. Maybe you are right and our players are down a little from the past, but 100% our coaches run a horrible offense and have since Satterfield left. Satterfield always had a duel threat quarterback and passes they completed were wide open toss and catches. We have gone to a pro style offense without the players to run a pro style offense. RUN THE QUARTERBACK>>>>HE IS PAID AND TELL HIM NOT TO SLIDE.

That’s not good ROI on our QB. He threw more boise TDs than App State TDs yesterday.

I’ll agree that I was not impressed with loggains the play caller yesterday. It was the first time I think he was outschemed and was calling things that weren’t working.

We had our chances to make it a game but never took any of them.

Swann is the fifth best QB of our FBS era.

His throwing mechanics are good his processing speed is below average.

I saw enough of him at Vandy to know he’s good enough. But, it seems like he’s made his mind up where to go pre-snap. That’s on film. Defenses pin ears back and get after him knowing it’s coming out the first guy he looks to. Usually the run game opens up the pass game, but our OL can’t sustain long enough for longer developing routes so they are jumping the quick throws.

I still have faith in him, but he’s got to cut down the turnovers ASAP. Receivers also have to catch the ball a little more. Just doesn’t seem like anyone is open either. Where are the tight ends?

This line of thinking is why I have found myself getting far more enjoyment following the lower profile sports over the last few years - and so far it has been a good fall season for that in Boone.

Agreed, we need more Cummins.

This all starts with the oline and we have no depth. Ramsey was clearly playing at maybe 75% after the first quarter. A lot of grit from him last night in a brutal situation.

Cummins is legit.
Barnes when focused is nice.
Stroman is hit or miss.

Leon, Doopah, Lawson Jr, Fowles are all young but playing a good bit. Dozier got some snaps last night. We are still rather young/inexperienced at the skill group.

We are missing Kanye. 14 and 7 would be fun as heck in the backfield. Get your skill guys the ball in space and see what happens.

Get back on track the rest of the way vs peer programs. Go win the SBC!!!

If we had two more quality lineman and healthy Roberts we’d have an offense that could be good enough to go 8-4 with this schedule, it’s very weak.

With what we have today it’s likely a 4-8 season.

That’s how thin the margin of error is in the SBC right now.

Yesterday was tough. Swann had no protection and he was moving like an old man. So he had no chance to do anything with his legs.

So, are we playing him because we are paying him, or because he is our best option?
