Not really. When I was at App, Falwell would send his kids to local high schools, including Watauga High to proselytize. They did so aggressively as I observed. When we were in the SoCon Falwell built a studio and did weekly SoCon shows, trying to buy their way into the Conference. Falwell Jr very actively tried to buy his way into the Belt and flew from campus to campus attempting to influence University Presidents and Chancellors. Wisely both the SoCon and The Belt kindly said "No thanks".

Well, I wonder about this. No playing time at Marsha and not on school...comes to App. St. with a scholly. Is there a story behind the story?
Hope he earns it. With his size, maybe new S&C coach can help get him to be all he can be.
I am with you on all of this, but my biggest issue is that he was a Blundering Turd. Do we have some kind of program to clean the stench off him prior to infecting the rest of the locker room? I would feel the same way had he played for Southern or Furman as well. Somethings are just too much for me to overcome. And I am only halfway kidding with this stuff, hate runs deep.

He was 4/6 this year..
According to Ponce, he will be better. Best QB he has ever recruited and seen in high school.
This. Ponce had the entire Burger family in tears during one of his recruiting pitches. Burger was also a large reason Ponce initially turned down the Miami job before Cristobal came back with a lot more money.

Now, Burger has to obviously put it all together, but he has the talent to bring us to new heights. And everything I've seen from a couple of the practices I've been to, he gets better every day.
Something many here seem to forget is that Burger's dad was a coach. Taylor Lamb was very much a coach on the field without the physical abilities of a guy like Burger. 6'4, 4.5 40, with an alleged cannon. If you have a guy like that who has all of the physical tools you could ever want to go along with Lambs player-coach mentality, the entire team will be elevated.

Cannot be understated enough. He's got some competition coming from McHugh who worked with Jordan Palmer in LA all year and whose parents had to have invested thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, in their son.
Oh man, I grew up and played against a kid in HS whose parents shopped him around. Played at 2 High School's in Charlotte, 1 in California (Mater Dei), a prep school, a JuCo, and ECU. His parents also made a movie about him. Needless to say, the kid sucked. Some of y'all probably know the prominent Charlotte family haha.

I'm certain Mchugh is going to be good, but don't think that's going to be the battle some think it is for next year. It'll be Burger, McBride, or Aguilar. I always get a little queasy when parents get involved to that level, but I understand it. We've got a stacked QB room though, could be anyones job.
You get queezy, because you knew one person? You know how many kids parents do this? Kids transfer, get personal coaches, move across the country all the time for sports. Baseball and soccer are really well known for this, and it works out well a lot of the time.

If McHugh has the ability to play (which his records at IMG suggest he does), then all of this help from his parents will help him excel. The guy you knew obviously lacked the requisite ability to play that underscores everything else.

Other than McBride who played some at Tx. St., the coaches, the fans, the players dad (no matter what profession dad has) have no idea how the players will respond to live action at the college level. This is what makes college football so great and surprising at the same time. Personally, I hope Burger is so good that he is an all SBC performer sooner than later... primarily due to the fact I like consistency. If a good coach knows what he has as skill set, he can properly game plan.
I am actually looking forward to next year due to the unknowns.

The offensive line will determine the success of our new QB to a very large extent.

You should have really enjoyed 2022 then, because it was an unknown for sure the way it turned out differently from what most of us actually thought and expected.

Regardless of what one thinks about the school & its former leaders, Liberty has nearly limitless resources for sports programs. That's what kept them out of the SBC since most of the conference members (then & now) can't/don't want to compete with that.

Two SBC Presidents admitted their issue with LU is the baggage they would bring along. Which begs the question, is CUSA that desperate?

Sure can. The good news is that the new wife that plucks you from the portal is obligated to keep you until you choose to leave on your own or you exhaust your eligibility.

Am I allowed secret tours of other programs or accept calls from them before I officially enter the portal ? Maybe I should hold out for offers with NIL $$ ?

Sell yourself man. Send tapes to all D1 programs. Seek as many visits as possible. You need to be at a new place that makes you feel as comfortable as possible and puts you in a position to be the best you that you can be...😂

Baggage? C'mon man...that's a cop out.

The only baggage LU brings to a conference is bags full of cash.
That's why I can't believe C-USA invited them to join. What group of G5 programs would want a conference mate with facilities and resources that match top P5's?

The issue with Liberty compared to Sun Belt schools that chancellors and presidents have is the mission. Liberty wants to be the Notre Dame of Evangelicals and spread their interpretation of the Bible. All the Belt schools are regional, public institutions who have to be good stewards of public funds. It made no sense to have Liberty in the Belt based on the differing missions.

Take away the Falwell nonsense, the Title IX stuff is plenty reason enough to keep Liberty out of your league. Add on Ian McCaw and it's even worse.
