As soon as I know what games my season tickets allow, I'd love to offer you one.Scipio wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 5:45 pmI wanted to ask a question about the schedule but seeing the OT turn this thread has taken, if I may, I would like to make a comment. I have difficulty with grammar and spelling even though I have two undergrad and one grad degree. Spell check helps but there is no "diction" check and that sometimes belies what someone is saying. I formerly (as of several months ago) posted on four USC boards for years, and saw this type of misunderstanding and ruffled feathers happen often. Yes, NLL, people are mean, but sometimes we major on minors and people are misunderstood, labeled, or hurt as a result. As a parent of a 100% disabled adult child, I have some experience in this. The young man in question is certainly over achieving. People like him and my son have one thing in common, they never give up. Jim Valvano would be proud of them. As a personal example of how easy posting using the wrong diction can be, three years ago I posted a thread that embarrassed me tremendously. I was thankful for the board's anonymity. My post took a life of its own, and since it was the off season, it gave a much needed laugh for everyone. Here is title of my post, "When is USC going to get an O lineman with a mean steak?" I meant to say "streak"!
Now to the schedule question I originally had; I want to come to a game and had planned for that to be the Wake game but now I am trying to find out what game to attend.

Re: Schedule
I would like to add something and this is not meant to be political - there was a very heartwarming portion of the Democratic convention - the last night - Joe Biden's night and had to do with a 13 year old young man who had a severe stuttering problem - Anyone interested his name is Brayden Harrington. It is easy to find I just didn't want to post a link to this public thread.Scipio wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 5:45 pmI wanted to ask a question about the schedule but seeing the OT turn this thread has taken, if I may, I would like to make a comment. Re: Schedule
Word on the street is that the Sun Belt made a deal with ESPN to gobble up the MAC time slots.
Anyone got a beat on this? I love it if it’s just this year. If it’s long term I want App out of the Sun Belt immediately.

Re: Schedule
So you get one of those- play on Saturday, then a week from Tuesday then a week from the following Saturday or Monday of the following week? If no fans I guess it really doesn’t matter does it?

Re: Schedule
Exactly my thoughts. If we can only have 5-10k in the stadium anyways, I can live with Tuesday/Wednesday night in a primetime slot. College football is gonna be weird anyways this year.
Any other season and it’s a non-starter for me. Fans in the stands comes first. MACtion has done absolutely nothing for the MAC except empty their stadiums. Last I checked they play even worse football than the Sun Belt and they sold their gameday experience in the process.
This season is the only one that would be acceptable for me.

Re: Schedule
Oh, God! It was before my time but I'm seeing images in my head from the many documentaries about the Cleveland Indians infamous "Ten Cent Beer Night" in 1974. I fear that the only difference this time around would be that someone is wearing a mask and riding the big block A on top of the scoreboard...

So, I think the first college football game of the season is this Saturday. Austin Peay vs Central Arkansas. ESPN is showing it in a prime time slot...

Re: Schedule
I am still mad at the "Herd" for knocking our guys off 24-10 in the 1987 I-AA playoffs semis with snow piled up in the corners of the track in Boone. We were the #1 seed and it kept us from going to Pocatella Idaho for the national championship game. At least Marshall lost the tital game 43-42 to what is now Louisiana-Monroe. So glad to get them on the schedule again.

We used to have a track? I don't remember us ever having a track.

I have a feeling this will become urban legend, just like that supposed VaTech game that so many people dreamed about a couple years back.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 4:17 pmWe used to have a track? I don't remember us ever having a track.

Re: Schedule
As memory serves...the piled up snow was green from being plowed off the old artificial turf (not a good omen I guess when you are playing Marshall). The snow was left over from the previous game when we defeated Ga. Southern which was my first snow game. Nothing like a game in the snow at the Rock!McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 4:17 pmWe used to have a track? I don't remember us ever having a track.
