bad storm coming thru the Midwest, usually means Boone is going to get some nasty weather, sucks, nasty weather in Boone can have a real negative effect on recruits and parents.

No matter which way you cut it it's going to be nasty. How nasty remains to be seen. Cold rain at best. Ice storm at worst. NWS in Blacksburg is telling us the models are trending towards more "warm" air so that could mean the ice is held down but we often get caught by surprise in these when the line is so close. Hopefully the rain will hold off for most of the Sat visit.

Just love the Boone weather. Going from 60's tomorrow and Friday to 30's this weekend to highs in the 20's mid-next week. Gotta love it.

From Ray's:

Meanwhile an area of low pressure develops along the stalled front bringing back rain and/or freezing rain early Sunday. Temperatures will be borderline for a prolonged freezing rain event Sunday morning and afternoon. It is still very early in the game and if anything, computer guidance is trending warmer Sunday for western NC. If that trend continues this will be an all rain event. To be clear, no alarm bells at this point.

Quick update. From all reports it looks like Herrod is getting very warm. To the point that some people are beginning to change their prediction from Minnesota to App. This one really came out of left field. And it's a very long time until Feb but with Cox and Upshaw already here, if we keep Boyd and get Rollins, and possibly pick up Herrod then RB goes from an unknown position last year (before Cox broke out) to a stacked, racked, and packed backfield for years to come. Rollins is a burner who no one is going to catch when he get to the edge. We've seen what Marcus can do and Boyd looks very similar. Upshaw runs between the tackles as much as outside and has power plus, like Cox, has great hands as a receiver. And Herrod is a bigger version of the power back. The kind of back that moves the pile.

As I said it's a long time before Feb and we still have to get Rollins and Herrod and keep Boyd and them from being poached but should that happen our backfield will be the best we've ever had with pretty much any type of back you want to choose from available. Plus should someone get poached we've got someone to step right in.

And for those wondering about linemen, from what I'm hearing some visits are coming and some offers will be going out soon. Recruit/faculty visits start this weekend and will go for a while, minus Christmas break. Expect some linemen at most of these. Here's to finishing strong, hoping the BCS schools get their targets to keep poaching down, and to getting this class signed.

According to reports DB Christian Campbell (6′ 1″ 180) of Central High School in Phenix City, AL has received an offer from App. I have added him to the Main Page and placed a player page with video up for him. The Rivals 2 star and 24/7 and ESPN.com 3 star FS is showing reported additional offers from Arkansas St, Ga. Sou, Jacksonville St, Memphis, NIU, USA, Southern Miss, UAB, and WKU.

I have already mentioned him in a previous post but I have added OL Bobby Limon (6′ 3″ 315) of Calhoun High School in Port Lavaca, TX to the Considering App section of the Main Page but I have also built a player page with video for him as I expect an offer may be forthcoming. He is a Rivals 2 star and 24/7 composite 3 star and is showing an offer from UTEP but I expect more to come. As I've said previously this is the usual time of year for most schools to offer OL and DL's. Depending on what happens with the offers we already have out I expect a few more as senior year tape is reviewed and contacts are made.

I can now report DB Latrell Gibbs (5′ 10″ 170) of North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, GA has picked up an offer from App. I've had him in the Considering App section for a while now and I've known for a couple of days that he was coming this weekend for a visit but it's now been confirmed that he does have an offer. I have moved him up to the Offers section of the Main Page and linked his player page with video I built last week to the Main. He is showing additional reported offers on 24/7 from Air Force, Ball State, UTC, Coastal Carolina, Furman, Mercer, Temple, WCU, and Wofford. He is also the teammate of newly on the hot list, 3 star RB J’vonte Herrod.

In addition to Gibbs I can add WR Shaedon Meadors (6′ 2″ 180) of James Byrnes High School in Duncan, SC and App Financial-Aid signee and January enrollee ATH A J Howard (5′ 11″ 180) of Harris County High School in Hamilton, GA to the list of official visitors for this weekend. I know there are others but I'm still confirming names. I'll post an updated listing as soon as I have more.

Add App commit OL Chandler Greer (6′ 5″ 280) of Bearden High School in Knoxville, TN to the official visit list for this weekend. That makes five now. The four I'm positive of are listed below. I know of a DB from South Georgia that is also coming but I'm waiting to confirm the name. I think I know who it is but I want to be sure before I add it. More to come.

OL Chandler Greer
DB Latrell Gibbs
WR Shaedon Meadors
ATH A J Howard

According to reports QB/DB Zeke Walker (6′ 3″ 200) of Brookland-Cayce High School in Cayce, SC has received an offer from App. I have added him to the Main Page and placed a player page with video up. I'm a bit late in picking this one up so I'm not positive on when the offer was received but it's within the last week or so. He's a Rivals 2 star that showing additional offers from Citadel, CCU, and YSU. Rivals has him listed as a FS but he only started playing both sides his senior year. I'm double checking on this to make sure it's all correct.

Got two more reported offers to add. Came from the same time as the one I just posted. I was just back checking them.

WR Julian Burris (6′ 0″ 180) of Kell High School in Marietta, GA
ATH DeAndre Belton (6′ 0″ 195) of Fairfield Central High School in Winnsboro, SC

I have added both to the Main Page but only put a player page with video up for Burris as there is not a lot of info other than a MaxPreps page and Rivals profile for Belton. Burris is a burner with reported 4.37 speed and is showing additional offers from Cincinnati, EKU, and Marshall. Belton is showing WCU as his only other offer that I can find. Belton's MaxPreps page is linked below.

Well, there are excellent sources of fertilizer on the mmb!

Thanks, and that is some awesome work on your part. Apart from a random post here and there, and game time, I haven't had but a few moments of App football since the spring, until recently, and your work has already got me caught up.

I aim to please. And I've been laid up a bit this fall so I've had a little extra time. I may be slow sometimes but I do try to "get er done"!!!

I heard Moose had to "drain" the Old Mountain Jug before giving it back - you know, he comes from a long line of expertise in producing "quality product" :o

After further checking and some back and forth (thanks John and 24/7) I'm moving Julian Burris to the Considering section as Rivals shows him with an offer from App and the schools listed above but he says he doesn't have one from anyone (not a big surprise since Rivals still has Scaife as a commit, up until yesterday still had AJ Wells listed also, and is missing our five latest commits). I caught a tweet from a friend giving him a shout out a few days ago but didn't really want to put it up until I had something more. I should have put him in the Considering section like I usually do until I get confirmation. With his size and speed he sounds like a possible backup to Hopkins should he de-commit. I'm watching him now so we'll see if anything pops.
