If we plan to snag a decent bowl bid, it better not be that close. But if the weather is pretty bad, I can see how it could, weather being an equalizer in most cases. Just hope out big scores haven't left us over confident.
I'm unclear on how a "close" (24 point?) win would hurt our bowl prospects. Please explain.

I think the rain and the expected turnovers affect both teams, but we come out on top!

Because it is an 0-4 team. We need to be able to dominate weak teams to be considered to be able to compete with some conference champion from a stronger conference. I think we can lose at least one more game and still get a bowl bid but it may be in a relatively undesirable bowl, but still have to dominate weak teams especially in KBS.
Just my opinion and I'm certainly not on a bowl committee. And I did say a "decent" bowl, whatever that may be.

Bowls aren't as exclusive as you seem to beleive. We can lose at least three more games and still get in a bowl and a 41-17 win over a peer school wouldn't be frowned upon by anyone (except Wyoming fans)

The bar for making a bowl is much lower than you seem to think, and the list of possible destinations much narrower. At least four Sun Belt teams are going to bowls no matter what (assuming that many qualify). And those four are already defined (New Orleans, GoDaddy, Camellia, Cure).

Well I had that score in mind but I didn't want us to miss a PAT just to get 53. ;)

Seven touchdowns and two safeties, no missed PAT's, 53. Now you can use the score in good conscience.

I know. I was talking about a more prestigious bowl, if you notice I said "decent." I feel there is very little chance that we won't get in one as there are so many.

There is very little chance of playing anywhere except one of the four bowls with which the Belt has tie-ins. 11-1 or 8-4 is going to make almost no difference. If we are bowl eligible, we will be in either New Orleans, Montgomery, Mobile or Orlando.

Exactly, been trying to explain this. Now, there are all sorts of reasons why we want to win as many games as possible, of course. But the bowl options are basically set.

And anyway, the idea that any bowl rep two months from now is going to hesitate to invite App because of our margin of victory this weekend - especially if it's something like 41-17 - simply doesn't fly at all.
