We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

What was the reasoning for not doing the PAT on the last TD yesterday?PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 1:59 pmpuke

Re: Moving on to Marshall
Up by ten. Only way they could tie us in regulation would be for us to have them score a 2-pt TD on a try and then we give up a TD on the kickoff, they then go for two and make it and we have a tie game. Highly unlikely, but it could happen.RaleighApp27609 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 5:43 pmWhat was the reasoning for not doing the PAT on the last TD yesterday?PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 1:59 pmpuke

Re: Moving on to Marshall
10 point lead with 7 seconds and they had no timeouts. The point after/2 point conversion is not a timed down. So if we pull a Bobby Lamb and give them 2 points then it’s an 8 point game and we have to either defend the kickoff or 1 final play. This way we’re guaranteed to be up 10 with only 1 play left. Smart play.

Do you understand how football scores work, TD, FG, 2 point conversion, PAT, safety, and what happens if a failed 2 point conversion goes the other way in college football?RaleighApp27609 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 5:43 pmWhat was the reasoning for not doing the PAT on the last TD yesterday?PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 1:59 pmpuke

Re: Moving on to Marshall
Scared for a block fg or pick 6 or fumble 6. Seen it too many times. That was the smart call and least risky, along with going for it on 4th. Personally I would have rolled out and wasted time, and thrown it over the NEZ but the perfect fade route worked too.RaleighApp27609 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 5:43 pmWhat was the reasoning for not doing the PAT on the last TD yesterday?PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 1:59 pmpuke

That doesn’t answer his question. But thank you for adding a little more snark to an already acidic website.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 6:08 pmDo you understand how football scores work, TD, FG, 2 point conversion, PAT, safety, and what happens if a failed 2 point conversion goes the other way in college football?RaleighApp27609 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 5:43 pmWhat was the reasoning for not doing the PAT on the last TD yesterday?PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 1:59 pmpuke

I’ve sat through enough first half’s over the last couple of years to know that they were flat and not coached . Not sure what you were watching.

Thanks for the insightful and non-rude response. Last I checked App was up two scores at the time of the TD. For Southern Miss to even tie after App's last TD with eight seconds left multiple very unlikely events would have to occur. If you feel safe throwing a pass for the final TD, why back away from a PAT?

Re: Moving on to Marshall
The pass was to corner of end zone. Little or no chance for interception. If PAT blocked and returned, there was a chance that it could be returned for 2 point return. That the would have put them within 8. Onside kick...then a crazy miracle TD with 2 point conversion... would tie game...RaleighApp27609 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 7:38 pmMcLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 6:08 pmDo you understand how football scores work, TD, FG, 2 point conversion, PAT, safety, and what happens if a failed 2 point conversion goes the other way in college football?RaleighApp27609 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 5:43 pmWhat was the reasoning for not doing the PAT on the last TD yesterday?PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 1:59 pmpuke

By not doing the PAT, made it's thematically impossible for SMU to win...

Re: Moving on to Marshall
Hoping the crowd is better for Marsh than USM. A lot of empty seats after half even from students. I’m sure homecoming had something to do with it.
Think that may have been the first time I’ve almost seen 2 App fans get in a fight in the stands as well. Though the younger one being plastered was the main culprit.

Homecoming always is a hard game to win. So much other stuff is going on besides the game, it is easy to get distracted.biggie wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 8:20 pmHoping the crowd is better for Marsh than USM. Something I had not considered until now is that hitting the portal is not as easy as it might seem. I imagine some players hit the portal, not because they are not getting playing time, but because they feel that they can get a better NIL deal elsewhere. Appalachian does not have the kind of NIL money that some schools do. Also, I do not think you really want that kind of player or coach on your team.

Time and score/clock management and other in-depth football …. read Gridiron Genius by Mark Lombardi. It’ll make arm chair QBs understand why they are watching from the arm chair.
