I hate CHeat.

And Howell is a hell of a quarterback.

If a fart can pass through Wranglers how can a virus not slip through a mask?🤣
The molecules that make up the more odoriferous parts part of flatulence are about 50 times smaller than the smallest virus. 0.4 nm vs 20 nm for a virus at the smaller end of the scale. SARS-CoV-2 is around 100 nm so we are looking at a size difference of 250x.

There are about 4 ways a mask can divert particles, even if the particles are smaller than the pore size of the mask but it would seem the fart smell is small enough to pass through while SARS-CoV-2 is much to large.

Science baby!
You create that mask that blocks a fart and we might make a capitalist out of you yet

Something that important would be given away for free much as Salk did for polio. Some things transcend money and as gassy as I am it would be least I could do for the world, and my family, given how I have tormented them their whole life.

Are you trying to measure COVID's molecular weight or length? lol

Since the numbers I looked up were nm I assume we are looking at length and I took it to mean diameter and not radial distance. Though we are getting into an area beyond my knowledge base I assume the virus is more 3-D and spherical than flat and round.

By the way as a physics major that teaches both chemistry and physics I have always been bugged by the phrase molecular weight coming out out you chemist's mouth. AMU is a measure of mass and it is in the name for goodness' sakes. and C-12 is pegged at 12.00 grams, again mass units! and then you people call it molecular mass. I have a hard enough unwinding mass and weight in my physics class and this is NOT helping. :-)

What is the molecular mass of a typical SARS-CoV-2 virus? I assume at least a 1,000 amu. I guess someone knows the basic proteins and how many proteins are in a typical virus and could figure it out to some average.
