Brown may get a shot at an NFL camp, but he wasn't great. He had lot of bad passes, unfortunately for us he had a enough good ones too.moehler wrote:numb.....really thought this team had a good chance to get deep into the playoffs, played their asses off, unlike last year, never quit. Even though we made alot of mistakes in the secondary, that qb for ISU is a stud, he will be playing next year on Sundays. oh well.

One last thought: According to Brownie, ISU almost blocked every PAT we had today, right up the middle. However, the coaching staff did not make one adjustment???????????? Ouch

Well it was an exciting, hold your breath (and swear under it) game. All year Sam Martin has a trooper for AppState. I didn't see anything he could have done better. I just wish that blocked kick was ISU's and not ours. Me and my girl are bummed but, come Monday morning when I get back on campus and start another day at this great university, I'll praise The Lord that I'm a Mountaineer!!!!

Yup. App was moving the ball pretty well there on that last drive, had it at the 40 or so and then started getting cutesy with Miller and lost yards and the mo. Depressing to go out like that.GreatAppSt wrote:Hated we played for overtime!!!!!
3 years in a row (and at home no less) the team loses early, and 4 out of the last 5.
I hope "No Equal" is taken out behind the athletics center, shot, and buried in an unmarked grave.

Hey this playcalling everyone on here keeps eating alive is all your savior Scott Satterfield. Everyone moaned at the committee all last year, then we all think that we have solved the problems with Satterfield. Folks, the problem is in recruiting and defense. The talent just isnt there. Patrick Blalock is the best we can find at strong safety? He got used and abused all day.

Brownie was right. We were talking about that very thing before each of the last 2 extra point tries. Unfortunately, he got the 2nd one and I can't get the sound of that sickening thud from the block out of my head.

I still hear that thud this morning. As soon as we scored to make it 38-37, I said we should go for 2 and either win or lose it right there. They were going to block one because we hadn't adjusted to what they were doing all day and they finally got one.BUTCH1991 wrote:WataugaMan wrote:One last thought: According to Brownie, ISU almost blocked every PAT we had today, right up the middle. I may be in the minority here, but you have to punt that ball. If you don't the first, they have 50 seconds to go 15 yards to get in fg range.GreatAppSt wrote:I was sreaming at the screen when we punted away to Play for OTRankinApp wrote:Yup. I don't think you're too far in the minority. We discussed it in our section and said the right thing to do there was punt it for the reasons that you stated. I also said that if he went for it, I wouldn't get mad, but I bet I would have been pissed if we went for it and didn't make it.

The correct decision was made in that situation, particularly with a wounded QB. However, with 3 time outs remaining: maybe go under center and try to make them jump off sides before punting, it's worth a try.

Re: No gameday chat?
I also agree to the thinking football man punting was right. But, in life you are told to trust your gut instincts, and I'm being perfectly honest with ya, my gut was screaming that punting away instead of going for the inches in that situation was not going to go well for us in OT. Maybe I felt that way because, as my wife says I'm more likely to take a gamblesomtimes than always deferring to the "safe" moves. I can't explain why but I felt that it was the wrong play with my wholy being sure as I'm sitting here typing about it. I very well may be Iwrong?WataugaMan wrote:"I also said that if he went for it, I wouldn't get mad, but I bet I would have been pissed if we went for it and didn't make it."

And Jerry is leaving the next coach (insert Satterfield with a stable of receivers like few have seen before. It's hard to believe some are Freshmen.

How do you know we didn't make an adjustment? We knew going in that they had a stellar defensive front. With the problems our OL has had this year, maybe it was inevitable.

Re: No gameday chat?
Invitable that we're going to have a PAT blocked, in that case go for two every time (stated with tongue planted in cheek). I guess it was invitable that we were going to lose too.

When they were near blocking every kick, it was bound to happen if enough attemps were made it seemed. Of course we won a big game based on a blocked FG, remember? I guest Mich didn't make any adjustments.

Re: No gameday chat?
If memory serves me correct, we previously had blocked one before the game winning block. Therefore, they didn't adjust and it cost them the game. I guess what goes around comes around, as they say.
