Re: Let's talk about Clark
With respect to SC - I will always pull for and hope that whoever is the Head Ball Coach at App is successful. For me it is simple. Fair or not - all HBC's are viewed by wins and losses and championships. Not how many points you won or lost by - just the record.
I have stated in prior posts that I want consistency - that statement is taken out of context. To me - consistency is about winning and having an identity on both sides of the ball. I am not sure we have that 5 games into the season. I believe we are close to an identity on both sides - however - we still show tendencies on the field make it difficult win on a regular basis.
Tonight is important - go App's!!

Re: Let's talk about Clark
It’s not necessarily pretty when we win and it’s the same when we lose. It’s quite obvious he’s not a good coach and that’s what you get when you’re scared to hire someone that may leave. We’re a stepping stone job and always will be. Accept it but it’s time to fire a guy that doesn’t want to leave.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 2:30 pmI said in 2019 he was a lazy hire. I have seen almost nothing that has proved me wrong.
The Belt has absolutely become a better conference, but we should be in the top 3rd.
I'm putting my maker down: he has to win 5 of the last 7 games. He needs to establish an identity for his program.
Like him or not, it needs to be put up or shut up time.
Thoughts?

Dec. 1 is the date. If we can find $3M prior, maybe before but I think we can wait 1.5 months til the end of the season.

Until December 1, at least, unless some donor coughs up a pretty penny.
We just can’t forget how bad this is looking if we pull out some fluke win against JMU, Marshall, or GS. Fluke wins don’t make good football teams.

Even if we have the $$, save it for the coaching staff. Unless a can't miss once in a lifetime coach calls theres no reason to do it earlier.

Re: Let's talk about Clark
I've asked this question before and raise it again. When was the last time we thoroughly beat a legitimate good team? I am not including A&M because they stunk and we didn't thoroughly beat them. Do we have to go back years? That beat down of ULM years ago really doesn't count as they were awful but at this point I'd take any 3 TD conference win.

That fluke win was ULM really. If that wasn’t enough, I don’t know what is. A&M as well. Muschamp beat #3 Georgia then lost to us to go 4-8. That one game against UGA got him an extra year.

Re: Let's talk about Clark
Unless they face a set back with injury, I can't see a fluke win happening against any of those teams. Sure anything is possible, but not likely. I agree though, can't let that or a potential way to get 6 or 7 wins cover up the bigger picture and issue at hand.
Anyone that watches the Georgia Southern v.s. JMU game this Saturday will see we are no where close to them in terms of size on the lines, speed in some positions, and execution. The potential for rain up here this Saturday might make it a lower scoring game than last year's, but they're legit squads.
If the rain forecast changes, I might even buy a ticket and view it in person.

I would say if they drop the ODU game, make a change give Lance "Golden Lion" Ware the Interim title.
The team feels the pressure, the coaches feel the pressure -- Elephant in the room needs to be removed.
BUT know this, next guy will cost a golden mint to 1.3 million (if you want a Garrett Riley type)

Going to have to pay it if we want to win. And no, I don't want Riley, he looks horrible at Clemson.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 9:05 amI would say if they drop the ODU game, make a change give Lance "Golden Lion" Ware the Interim title.

A winning record gets the staff another year . Can we cobble out four more wins with the remaining schedule? The team we took to Chapel Hill could win them all , last nights team could lose them all .I thought we would get better as the season progressed . I was wrong .

Honestly, I don’t know if I trust this coaching staff enough for another season, even if we pull out a few more wins. The culture is off.Stonewall wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 9:42 amA winning record gets the staff another year . Can we cobble out four more wins with the remaining schedule? I understand , and am frankly perplexed as to the what I see on the field .I have been told though that barring unforeseen circumstances ,a winning record gets them another year.8993 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 9:47 amHonestly, I don’t know if I trust this coaching staff enough for another season, even if we pull out a few more wins. Re: Let's talk about Clark
Well, I don't see 4-2 down the stretch. If Hughes missed the ULM kick then the search would already be started. ODU is pretty much the make or break game if we need to finish 7-5. Night game, National TV, I'm already nervous but cant wait to watch.Stonewall wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 9:51 amI understand , and am frankly perplexed as to the what I see on the field .I have been told though that barring unforeseen circumstances ,a winning record gets them another year.8993 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 9:47 amHonestly, I don’t know if I trust this coaching staff enough for another season, even if we pull out a few more wins. Re: Let's talk about Clark
If the buyout is 1 million dollars, how bout going out and buying some players.
You're not investing your monies properly. Pay to keep JA and pay to keep that kicker, if Clark leaves that kicker will be in Morgantown in 2024!!!
Need some DB's, Need some WR that aren't afraid to catch a slant route, need some lineman that don't get dumb penalties in the first quarter, need a linebacker that won't arm tackle, more I think about it need every thing but a QB and a kicker.
Instead of buying out the coach go buy some talent for the next coach.....

If we don’t have any talent then how did we play UNC so close? We have talent but they are making a ton of mistakes and not executing.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 10:14 amIf the buyout is 1 million dollars, how bout going out and buying some players.

If we don’t have talent then missing on talent evals and development is on coaching. After 4 years we are getting what we are going to get.
