They don't offer a wider variety of white apparel, because the demand for white apparel is not high. I too was looking for more white apparel. I try to support the school first, but couldn't find anything. Moved on to third party sources, and they also didn't have much of a variety.appbanker wrote:Is anyone going to offer any white AppState gear for the game? Re: Athletics announced White Out for Old Dominion
The announcement coming on May 25th, not many suppliers who order apparel have really had much time to turnaround an order like that. Now, more than likely, a heads up were given to stores of such promotions down the line before it was announced to the public. My bet would be that white apparel will be available, but we're still a good ways out before shipments arrive at vendors and they are priced and hung for the consumer. Football season is coming, but its not here quite yet.appbanker wrote:Is anyone going to offer any white AppState gear for the game? Looks like a nice opportunity for a merchant to get hung with merchandise from an idea that probably will have a hard time flying as the inventor envisioned. Yes, bring your own shirt-- BYOS/\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:They don't offer a wider variety of white apparel, because the demand for white apparel is not high. Re: Athletics announced White Out for Old Dominion
As others have stated, the only way this works is if the athletics office finds a few sponsors and hands out white t-shirts to everyone that comes through the gates. If that does not happen it will fail. I'm hoping they learned their lesson with the failed stripe the stadium promo.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Coach Satt and the coaching staff have been wearing WHITE polos and pullovers at home games for a few years now.

Re: Athletics announced White Out for Old Dominion
Other schools have been successful without providing shirts, but it seems to require fan enthusiasm for the idea. Seems that Penn State started its whiteout in the student section - engaging students to heavily support and promote the idea. Only after a successful adoption in the student section for a couple of seasons did it go stadium-wide.
Since the program has committed to this, I hope fans do support it better than "Stripe the Stadium". However, I also hope that admins take into consideration fan buy-in when planning future color days.

The trouble with providing shirts (through sponser presumably considering our budget) is the fact that you'd be hard-pressed to find a business in the High Country who can afford to commission 25,000 shirts. You'd have to approach a national or at least state-wide brand.

Maybe have Pepsi, Lowes, Mast General, Samaritans Purse, and The Standards all chip in to make it happen? If multiple companies sponsor the "white out" and put their logos on the back of the shirt with the block A on the front, they could all do it for *relatively* cheap.Gonzo wrote:The trouble with providing shirts (through sponser presumably considering our budget) is the fact that you'd be hard-pressed to find a business in the High Country who can afford to commission 25,000 shirts. But what you're missing is that white is already a Penn State color. So for them it's not a stretch. Imagine asking them to wear red when Ohio State comes to town just because the starting RB asked for it. I'd imagine they'd have a considerable back lash for that idea too.tjpappy wrote:Other schools have been successful without providing shirts, but it seems to require fan enthusiasm for the idea. There is not a team in the country that doesn't wear white. In fact, any school that uses white as one of their colors really only has one color.APPdiesel wrote:But what you're missing is that white is already a Penn State color. Re: Athletics announced White Out for Old Dominion
Ever since the originally announcement and the original argument, athletics hasn't pushed the "fans are encouraged to wear white" bit. Not in the HoF press release, not by the players, not anyone.
I'm guessing they got permission from ODU to wear light-colored uniforms before the original announcement and can't go back on it, so they might as well go with it.
I'd be fine going full stormtrooper at Tennessee.

Re: Athletics announced White Out for Old Dominion
Went shopping Sunday afternoon in Boone to refresh my t-shirt wardrobe. I perceived (perhaps through the power of suggestion) there seemed to be more white t-shirts on the racks than usual. Could be my imagination since I've never sought to purchase one.appbanker wrote:Is anyone going to offer any white AppState gear for the game? Re: Athletics announced White Out for Old Dominion
Most articles on GoASU (Old school) end with reminders to buy season tickets, donate, and something about the Miami game. It appears as though the athletic department wants to ensure the September 17th game be one that will bring in more P5 schools to Boone. Maybe it wasn't the athletic departments decision after all (This was a discussion 10 pages ago in this thread).T-Dog wrote:Ever since the originally announcement and the original argument, athletics hasn't pushed the "fans are encouraged to wear white" bit. Call me a dreaded "traditionalist." If this was a once every 50 years thing no problem at all. Bring it on!Boone Goon wrote:This whole thing has gone off the rails...

My beef is it seems we have become nothing but variety. Nowadays alternate uniforms and/or Yellow jerseys at home are almost as common as the all black.

You are correct. I have always felt they wore a contrasting color on the sideline so they can be easily recognized by players for in game instructions and play calling.

But those fresh-ass Nike dri-fit golf shirts aren't available to plebs like us.bigCasu wrote:Appftw wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that Coach Satt and the coaching staff have been wearing WHITE polos and pullovers at home games for a few years now.
