I believe you probably didn't but I am very surprised when merely using the word coach does not start this insane babble all over again. Moore- Great coach Satterfield- great coach. Why the hell does it have to go further than that?asutrnr81 wrote:Thanks Long......Longrifle28 wrote:Coach Moore is a great man. But this thread is about now.
To ALL:
I started this thread and had NO thought about any Coach Moore issue. It was not intended to be about him....any more than Sparky or Coach Brakefield. It was just a point of where I think we are right now. Heck if cooking dinner for them would make a difference, I'd make a point of getting up there and cooking!
Please do not make this a Coach Moore, (Whom I have the GREATEST respect for) thread. It truly is where are we now!...cause quite frankly i would not be making this post without all the past hurdles and accomplishments. I just think this crowd is special...

Re: Coaching
I think Satt, Woody and all of our current coaching staff are doing a great job.
However, whenever you start a thread called "Coaching" and you start talking about how you evaluate our current staff you have to know that the conversation is naturally going to gravitate towards comparisons with past coaches/coaching staffs and mayber other programs. You shouldn't get offended when this happens. Only if folks get nasty and disrespectful with their comments.
Moore did some very good things during his tenure and I greatly appreciate his work. He was a consistant winner that also caught lightning in a bottle with the advent of the spread and then Armanti which resulted in a first time three-peat of the FCS NC. He made some timely choices either by necessity or choice, but let's just let him have the credit since he was the head coach. He will own the good and the bad. If he had assistants that convinced him to do the right thing then he deserves the credit for having them around. He was loyal and comfortable at App and we benefitted. He established App with winning tradition by his work.
I think what Satt and Co. have done, so far, maybe some of the best work in our history. Only time will tell. He will need more longevity and sustained success to really claim that prize. He did inherit a downward trending program in many areas that had more issues than most people on the outside even realize. He also was tasked with taking us through a massive FCS/FBS transition that few, IF ANY, programs have done successfully, certainly not in the expedited time frame that we have seen and not as cleanly. IF he sustains this upward track then it will certainly be a unique accomplishment. I believe he will. We have a program that many envy already.

You also have to credit Jerry with the caliber of men who came out the other side of his program. His values touched and shaped a lot of lives and I can't think of a single player who went out into the world and reflected poorly on App.

Agreed. Amazing what we have got out of this bunch. Still a lot of special stuff to happen for our team this year. Great to be a part of it.WVAppsfan wrote:The entire staff is one of the best units in the nation. I would not change them for anyone

Re: Coaching
It will definitely be difficult to keep this crew together much longer if they continue trending upward. I'd say Woody and Ledford are the two most likely suspects to be picked off.

Re: Coaching
I agree. They will continue a sizable list of coaches that have gone on from here. Although a loss, it is something to be proud of. People don't go to weak places to look for talent. We produce great talent in both academics and athletics. Go APPmoonshine wrote:It will definitely be difficult to keep this crew together much longer if they continue trending upward.
