We can put something together like Ole Miss did to pay for their goalposts and fines from the NCAA last week. You would be surprised what some motivation can do.

When you play not to lose, it is hard to win. We have to start playing every game to win.

With a decline in attendance and ticket sales and gameday revenue it may cost us more in the long run if we keep him.BeauFoster wrote:Everyone who wants him gone...get out your checkbooks because it's gonna cost a ton of money we don't have. My statement is more this: you want him gone, do something about it. Take it as a call to action.manonabuffalo wrote:BeauFoster wrote:The price is dictated by his contract, which I'm sure you can look up if you're so inclined. Re: Fire him
My ring of alums / donors all want him gone, I guess I can always see if that can grow.....
I will make a few calls on Monday, I won't donate anymore this year, but if we are gonna pass around the hat to send him on his way I'm available.

The respectable thing would be for him to resign or state that he will at the end of the year.
Not going to happen. I have never listen to one post game interview in which SS took any responsibility for this mess. It's all on the players.

Can't afford to Fire him, but can't afford all the lost revenue either. Is there anyone in the Admin with the power to do so? I doubt it. It's not going to happen this year.

Re: Fire him
This board wouldn't be complete without a bevvy of threads devoted to firing one or two coaches.

Somebody said it was already in the works before Cobb shipped out.Appersrule wrote:Hard to believe he got an extension and a salary increase less than 2 weeks ago. Can't blame that on Cobb? I'm mad too but I'm not ready to fire Scott. Boneheaded mistakes today? Sure!!! Mistakes made that a seasoned coach would make? No!!!! The transition is a mess but I still believe we will be fine by 2016 and back to form.

Re: Fire him
I love how I get attacked by a couple of Scott's cheerleaders on this board for hinting that he needs to win a certain amount of games to retain his job and that I am on the bubble as to supporting Scott. After this game tonight I'm officially gone from skeptical and not sure he is the guy to ready to see him leave.
Scott, if you truly love App (which I believe you do) then you need to resign. You aren't ready for this job. I wish you well but it's time to go. This is not acceptable at Appalachian State.
Trying to figure out how a team with 85 scholarships (technically 80 now) loses to a team with 63 of them considering that when we had 63 as well we use to beat them? There are no excuses. This is just plain bad.
It's one thing for us not to have the talent or for there to be improvement shown each week but it's coaching. Too many bad play calls, mental mistakes, and poor leadership shown by this staff. The sad thing is that Scott is so immature as a leader he won't take responsibility for his faults or even as a whole. His ego won't allow him to look in the mirror and see what he did wrong.

Just curious, were you saying the same thing late in 2004?

Re: Fire him
This loss will go down as the most embarrassing one ever. No way is LU better. ASU again lost this game with poor red zone play, fumbling the ball and interceptions. And to add insult to all this there is some thing not right with the defense, can someone tell me what they were playing. Looked like a cross between a zone / prevent / Tampa two that didn't work. This loss falls squarely on the shoulders of the coaches and the players sort of a perfect storm. No adjustments after half time either. Same story with the same miserable ending. SS has 2 more years. Keep it up and there will be maybe 6000 in the stands.
