Okay, what and/or how much does he owe?Appsolutely wrote:Well, of course you don't owe your alma mater anything after you graduate. I got my diploma; screw anybody else who is trying to earn one.

I didn't like it either. I do like the idea that was floating around a couple weeks ago about letting a different athlete, student, alum etc. each week do the welcome to the rock bit. I think if done right that could be really cool.appbanker wrote:My problem with the Eric Church 'Welcome to The Rock' was that you couldn't even understand what he said. They tried to do the cool techno stutter thing (old fart here not knowing how to describe it).

Right. Based on your original comment, however, he doesn't 'owe' anything, but "screw anyone else trying to get theirs" if he doesn't . I see what you did there. Good try.Appsolutely wrote:I didn't say he OWED anything, so...HeffnerIV wrote:Okay, what and/or how much does he owe?Appsolutely wrote:Well, of course you don't owe your alma mater anything after you graduate. It's his choice what he does with his money--on that we agree...and I have no idea what benevolent causes he might be supporting. People put their "extra" money into what they value most. And some don't have any "extra." I understand all that. And actually, truth be known, I also have a personal agenda here...I just happen to feel that if there is anything I can do to raise the stature of the University, academically or athletically, it increases the pride I feel when I look at the diploma that is hanging on my wall.
And by the way, it doesn't have to be money.

I can't attest to any money he's donated, but I can tell you that he is restricted from certain non-monetary contributions because he's on his first deal/contract. He'll have more leverage and flexability in the future.Appsolutely wrote:It's his choice what he does with his money--on that we agree...and I have no idea what benevolent causes he might be supporting. I like the idea of a famous alum versus SC, but that's just me.

No it isn't, I understand where Gonzo was going with this. I'm not into country as much as I used to be and artists like Luke Bryan are why. So, back to the smack,Eric over Luke all day and twice on Sunday! The direction this thread took is what is stupid.

That stutter is exactly why the Church intro flopped. The statement has to end in a way that allows the crowd to launch off of it. The stutter was the problem.

Accompished: a debate about what alumni "owe" the university and whether or not Sean Connery is our best option for football intros.
Can't blame me for this thread being so sh*tty.

It's my fault, Gonz. I posted something that hit a little too close to home for some of us. As far as who is the better country artist, I have no idea and I don't give a fat rat's ass.

I meant "mission accomplished" in getting IG to post something negative. Granted, it's not that difficult to get him to be negative, but getting him to crawl out from under his rock is an accomplishment of sorts.Gonzo wrote:The mission: to trash Georgia Southern and proclaim that even our country music stars are better.ASUMountaineer wrote:Yes! I don't like either because they don't serve cups with ice and Q at their shows.....
