I new unveiling of Yosef before each game would be great. The crowd reacts to Yosef. Yosef represents the alumni and AppState. I would be alright just straight out copying SC on the way we do it. The Chanting APP STATE while raising an APP STATE FLAG sounds like a great idea. I also like the flannel out idea for a game as well. (A night game would give them something to talk about on tv that is unique to APP STATE...FLANNEL OUT)WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 12:24 pmI still love the idea someone posted this fall of building an actual Yosef’s Cabin as part of the hill plaza. Let the celebrity of the game, run the App State flag up the flag pole and start the App State chant. It’s great to have a video board, but live action in game, like Cocky and the whole South Carolina pre-game ritual is even better.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 11:25 amHope DG considers putting a couple big flag poles on the large plaza being built when Miller Hill is regraded. Use a little Disney set piece magic. Make it Yosef's Cabin from the field, complete with chimney smoke coming out etc.. Use fencing to hide the back side and sell beer out of the back as a working concession stand.HighPointApp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 1:58 pmI imagine the liability insurance would be astronomical.PBR1893-BEER-HAT-GUY wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 1:48 pmI mentioned the cabin to DG in New Orleans...he wasn’t very receptive. I told him I could raise the money...easy. Imagine people wanting a photo op on the porch with stadium backdrop for a small donation...that could fund a scholarship in 6 games I bet

In the Spirit of Chief Noc A Homa's Tee Pee, Bernie the Brewer's Slide, UGA's Dog House, and the Orange Bowl Dolphin Tank, I humbly disagree. Yosef's Cabin would be a part of every broadcast and every highlight package. Yosef could also bust through the door at the end of halftime and get the crowd fired up for the second half. He could run another flag up the flagpole at the end of the game for every victory.TheAppalachianState wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 2:17 pmWhat?!? That would be a fun idea outside of the stadium, not inside. Too cheesy and a little over the top for being insideAppstate88 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 1:26 pmI posted this back in 2015....maybe DG will consider doing it.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 12:24 pmI still love the idea someone posted this fall of building an actual Yosef’s Cabin as part of the hill plaza. Let's build an authentic looking circa 1899 mountain cabin on the bank. It could have a real Yosef sitting on the front porch. He could be available for photos with fans before and after the game. He could fire his rifle from the porch when we score. The ROTC guys can continue to load it for him. He could have a mountain jug on the porch which he could drink from on third down. The cabin could have a rock fireplace with chimney. He could send up different colored smoke (black, gold or white) on game days. The cabin and real Yosef might make a neat focal point in the stadium. I believe if it is thoughtfully done it would add to the game day experience for mountaineer fans of all ages.
Our mascot is a Pipe Smoking Mountaineer. This would be a great addition to the Rock!

I want to see a corduroy-out and we can rub the fabric back and forth to get a really loud sound from the stands just before the opponent snaps the football.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

I remember in the ‘60s we would be told that Yosef lived up on Howard’s Knob and we had to shout “Yosef” to get him to come down for the football game. He’d then pop out of the field house. A good tradition worth reviving.

Back in those days, they must have confused Yosef with "Booger Odom", he lived at that very sharp curve on Junalaska Road. He had a small cabin, rumor had it that he was really very wealthy. The best way to describe him is he looked a lot like Popcorn Sutton, didn't give a rip what people thought and lived his life the way he wanted. I can respect that.Blackshirt68 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 6:11 pmI remember in the ‘60s we would be told that Yosef lived up on Howard’s Knob and we had to shout “Yosef” to get him to come down for the football game. If there is actually a "scoreboard plaza," it might be nice to see the National Championship flags moved to that plaza as well.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 11:25 amHope DG considers putting a couple big flag poles on the large plaza being built when Miller Hill is regraded. I'd also like to see a flagpole by the scoreboard with smaller "pennants" for each of our Sun Belt conference titles. Something like this:

A "YOSEF" chant to get Yosef out of the cabin would be great. I hope the powers that be are reading this thread. These are great ideas and would be ours. We need our own traditions.Blackshirt68 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 6:11 pmI remember in the ‘60s we would be told that Yosef lived up on Howard’s Knob and we had to shout “Yosef” to get him to come down for the football game.
