Re: Cox
In the light of adversity let's look at the positives. He is going to miss two games. A game that we will not be favored to win with or without him and a game that we will win with or without him. It provides the "next man up" and the "next man up" to get valuable reps that will be needed come early November. We know what he can do when healthy and this will allow Upshaw to show what he has to offer. Who knows, it may turn out that Cox is our Wally Pipp. I hope not, but who knows.

Re: Cox
FYI, per the App Scout affiliate, official word is that Cox just has a minor injury, is day to day and actually took part in the morning practice Friday.

Re: Cox
From Appstatesports.com:
After participating in the morning, running back Marcus Cox missed his first full practice of fall camp when he sat out of the afternoon session. The Doak Walker Award candidate is day-to-day with a minor lower-body injury.

Re: Cox
Cox had surgery yesterday. If rehab goes well, he might be back for Michigan. I think we will be fine with Upshaw if Cox isn't ready.

Re: Cox
If it was surgery for a torn meniscus, he will not be back for Michigan. Two week immobilization and two weeks full rehab.

True....I would hate if he missed the Michigan game, not only for us the fans, but for Marcus himself. I agree,, I don't think he will be ready for Michigan.boonetown1 wrote:If it was surgery for a torn meniscus, he will not be back for Michigan. Two week immobilization and two weeks full rehab.

Re: Cox
I would rather give him two extra weeks and be ready for So Miss. No need to bring him back for either Michigan and Campbell.AppState89 wrote:True....I would hate if he missed the Michigan game, not only for us the fans, but for Marcus himself. Since he had surgery yesterday, I'm sure he most likely miss 2 games. I wouldn't bring him back early.

Great opportunity for Upshaw.
Not sure I'd call that "officially" - looks like their source is the same Twitter report that was referred to before.

Re: Cox
after reading this info this morning I called my friend who is an orthopedic surgeon and gave him the basics - torn meniscus with surgery - he said the basic recovery is 4-6 weeks if they just had to remove fragments - if they had to sew it back together = 6 months --- UGH

Re: Cox
UM would go for Cox's knee on every play whether he had the ball or not. IMHO, he will miss the UM and Campbell games, minimum. Probably So. Miss. Get him healthy for GaSouth. No foolish gambles, please.

And if Upshaw is everything they say he is, he might just surprise UM.....asu66 wrote:UM would go for Cox's knee on every play whether he had the ball or not. IMHO, he will miss the UM and Campbell games, minimum. Probably So. Miss. Get him healthy for GaSouth. No foolish gambles, please.

Re: Cox
[quote="Gonzo"]I'm mainly curious about the long term effects. We've seen with AE, Jamal etc how a player might never be the same even after they're cleared for play.
It really depends on how they do in rehab.I tore my meniscus last year and had it scoped. It took three months before I felt anywhere close to where I was. That being said let him heal!

Given the way the schedule falls (bye week before USM, only 5 days between USM and GSU), I'd guess he either plays in both of those games or neither.
