Man, someone needs to explain to the University what big news means, big news is expansion of the stadium, big news is we signed a home and home with Notre Dame, big news is the ACC has extended an invitation to join the league, this doesn't even register as even "noteworthy" news. Man, do I feel foolish getting excited about this.

It's amazing how out of touch the folks in Boone can be sometimes. While this is very good news it isn't anything most hard core fans aren't aware of. I would imagine most people who follow App football on Twitter are up to date enough to already know this info.

Now you all know what I felt several weeks ago when the "HUGE" announcement was less than sexy home and home series .

While I don't think this lived up to the hype either, I wouldn't say it's not noteworthy. Not a big revelation to those of us that read this forum and especially Firemoose's fantastic work, I'd say the vast majority of our fans are not as plugged in.

It sort of reminds me of one of Aesop's Fables about the little shepherd boy who prevaricated about wolves chasing the sheep over and over and over...until a real wolf got into the herd and no one believed him when he was telling the truth. Not accusing the SID's staff of being prevaricators; just that they're sometimes a wee tad heavy on the hype.

I'm not sure the guys in the SID realize how much information about recruiting is now available to us thru Firemoose and the guys at 247. They keep us abreast of the latest and I'm sure the vast majority of fans here and there were aware of the signings and early arrivals of those guys. What caused the letdown was the thinking that something new was about to be announced. No one is disappointed that these guys are on board. We are excited about their decision to be Apps and look forward to the contributions they will make.

Other Big News, from Moonshiners series: Tickle is doing fine taking over Tim's moonshine business. He has a new way of making the shine using the "Popcorn Sutton" method, which he learned from a fella living around Elizabethon. Jim Tom is educating a newbee on the finer points of the craft. And, the two dumb asses in South Carolina are still dumb asses. They recently screwed up and produced blue moonshine. They were trying to make brandy.

I think the football team posted that big news was coming. I'm pretty sure it's a football announcement.

Actually, the tweet came from Appalachian Sports, but it said it was about @AppState_FB.
