We still have two games AFTER UGA......Wofford and Western. I do not want to leave the SoCon having lost to either of them.ASU-FTW wrote:Not to be Debbie Downer, but SEC >>>> Big Slow Boring 10.
On the bright side, at least we don't have to worry about injuries to starters since there will be no post season. There are no excuses not to pull out all the stops and play the starters the whole game.
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Would think that Coach Woody would take care of beating Wofford. Western loss would kill us, not counting on losing though.asutrnr81 wrote:We still have two games AFTER UGA......Wofford and Western. Too bad Georgia doesn't realize they don't have a chance against us. (ha,ha)

I agree with you. No way we beat Georgia unless they give the game away with turnovers. Let's focus on winning the SoCon and our other FCS non-conference games!!! This Defense is young!!!

Re: Georgia Game - What If
Wofford has beaten us two years in a row. I definitely do not want to leave the Southern Conference on a three game losing streak to the ankle biters.
I think it would take an ungodly amount of injuries for us to lose at home to Western though.

Re: Georgia Game - What If
I'd take the 2014 Michigan game over the 2013 Georgia game. I think the win would take us farther.
Everyone will be watching that score, if we lose, eh, it was expected, if they trounce us, it hurts, but if we win, our ownage will be epic.

just sayin Mountain man, our offense is going to be lethal, and Georgia's defense is suppose to be the weakness this year......take for what its worth

Re: Georgia Game - What If
The one thing I do like about this year's FBS game is that we have zero reason to hold back.
We might not win, but we can absolutely leave our mark. Right now I'm thinking 55-31 UGA.

Re: Georgia Game - What If
Believe that has been one of our problems in the past.
We get behind in a lot of BCS games and put in substitutes because we had an important FCS
game the next week. Now we will have more substitutes and more expectations to win.

Re: Georgia Game - What If
Right now our additional substitutes are mainly just walk on players who have been given full scholarships. Not that they don't deserve them, but it doesn't make the player any better just because he is a scholarship athlete. In a few years we should be able to add better depth due to the fact that we can recruit more players with the incentive of a full scholarship as opposed to partials and walk on opportunities.GoApps70 wrote:Believe that has been one of our problems in the past.

Re: Georgia Game - What If
The UGA vs App game is one where the general SEC attitude of superiority could bite them. "Yeah App beat a crappy B1G team in 07 but look what happen when they played LSU and Florida from the mighty SEC."
I think App really has a chance to sneak up on UGA but they have to play the perfect game and create a few turnovers. UGA's defense is going to be young and App could find the holes. UGA's offense will be monster but turnovers can slow that train and they had their share last year.
With no playoff ahead, it won't be like the late season Florida game where to me it looked like App was trying a lot of different players and formations rather than really going all out to win the game. DJ Smith had a great game but the rest of the defense didn't show.
Would love to see both undefeated going in...........

Make sure no one reminds them that the crappy B1G team beat Florida in their bowl game.SpeedkingATL wrote:The UGA vs App game is one where the general SEC attitude of superiority could bite them. Re: Georgia Game - What If
I think the outcome of the Georgia game could compare to following:
Going into the VA Tech game, I really thought we could give them a scare, especially with Deandre coming off that ridiculous prior season at QB and having a ton of starters back for that season. But I get the feeling that with all the non-sense that year going on within the team and coaching staff, that was a large contributor to how badly we got beat. UGA will be a better team than VT was that year but my hope is that we don't get shown the door before half.
My heart wants an upset but my head tells me that we may not win. A more realistic positive outcome for App would similar to our latest matchup against ECU. We could start fast and compete, but in the end special teams and the intangibles are where we could get burned, especially later in the game vs. SEC athletes (unlike Michigan). I know Satt has made it a point to focus more attention to special teams, but we may not have the depth yet to hang around 4 quarters with premier SEC athletes.
If UGA is undefeated and in the top 5 and we pull the upset, this will be head and shoulders above the win against Michigan. I hope we can pull it off

Re: Georgia Game - What If
In order for us to win we will have to play a perfect game -- I don't think there is any doubt about that.
On top of a perfect game, I think we are going to have to throw some wrinkles in our offense and special teams to surprise UGA. For example, at the scirmmage in Charlotte this year, they had a "swinging gate" XP where the center hiked it to Hallock who was lined up on the hash behind a line of blockers. With Satterfield here and the "Always Attack" mentality, I think we will see a lot of this stuff this year. Against UGA, if we don't execute it well, it will kill us. If we do execute it well, it could put us in a position to take the game.

Please don't bring up the VT game. There is no excuse for what happened that day. They were kind to us as they could have scored a couple more times. Just no excuse for that day.ASUGoose wrote:I think the outcome of the Georgia game could compare to following:

It is going to be interested to see the difference in the play calling year over year. Many claim that Jerry pulled Scott back in various situations. While I think Scott will be less conservative than Jerry he will not be as aggressive as a HC as he was as OC. Just my opinion.ASU-FTW wrote:Not to be Debbie Downer, but SEC >>>> Big Slow Boring 10.

Will need to Stars and Moon to align just right to come out of Athens with a W. Not likely to beat them with speed and athleticism, and you can bet they are used to seeing the Spread Option. I learned my lesson after the Michigan game to count the Apps out against the Big Boys. Let's hope the Bulldogs give us some help with turnovers, penalties, etc and see what happens.

My first hope is that we go undefeated in the SoCon & that will not be an easy task for this team. We should win our non-conf games at home but the Montana game will be a dog-fight and I will be there supporting the Black & Gold!!!

Re: Georgia Game - What If
I'm just happy the UGA game won't be in 110 degree heat like the ECU game was.
If we are still healthy in November I would certainly like to think we can put up a good fight.
