Many years ago Tennessee expanded their capacity by putting the seat numbers on the bleachers closer together. Hope we never resort to that!

That’s exactly how the bleacher seats already are at App now and I, like many others, can never get in my actual seat because of how close the numbers are together and the folks to either side. No knock to the larger folks, just seem to enjoy catching games at home on TV vs never knowing if I’m gonna have my space at the stadium.

Similar to how airlines have the "if your luggage doesn't fit in this box", we could add a measuring stick at the gates. Or add a premium big boy section. Lots of options!

I already pay more for the size of my clothes, not a fan of paying more for being wide.

The gates would be more entertaining than the field.

Also, if you are big enough, the airline will make you purchase two seats. That could be a "big" money maker at KBS.

Makes you wonder what the seat design process is. Is it a basic assumption that every fan is average size?

Truthfully App could build an entire new section, widen the seats everywhere to an appropriate and comfortable width, and not increase stadium capacity much at all. Moving seat numbers closer to increase capacity isn’t something we should fear App doing because they already did it about 7 or 8 years ago.

It amazes me when you look at MLB stadiums like Truist that are exclusively stadium chairs how low the capacity actually is. Truist park is massive but it only holds 41,000 people. Wrap your head around that. We’re squeezing 41k into a stadium that rightfully should only hold about 27k.

I believe Kenan added a bunch of stadium seats a few years ago and the capacity went from 60k down to 50.5k so it is a tradeoff.

Many years ago, to combat hooliganism and improve safety, the EPL mandated that all EPL stadiums must have seats. This was because stadiums were selling standing room only tickets, essentially doubling their capacity (it was believed that 2 people could stand in a space where one could sit). The stadium capacities dropped by an insane amount.

The above is a generalized history, but true. Bring a couple of those chair back cushions in and try and fit them all in your designated seats. It almost can’t be done. Combined with people who arrive early and spread out because they have no thoughts but of their own and you end up with a crappy gameday experience. Ask me how I know…

We would lose probably 8k if we did this.
Give 'em hell!

The only reason the Lambeau Field seat 81K+ is due to bleacher seats (no backs). If it had stadium seats, capacity would likely be in the low 60's. One way to combat that is to buy stadium seats and secure them over your seat number as mentioned above.
Since I have been fortunate to attend 4 games in Lambeau (my company is based an hour south), I have tailgated with my customers, sent them in to enjoy the game, and watched at a bar or hotel because the seats can be cramped and miserable. (I don't have a passion for the Packers)

this must be why we dont sell those seat back cushions like they do at virtually every other college stadium. the ones that you see on those shots where the stadium is empty and doing interviews and such.

I had raised the question in the past regarding announced attendance at several games- how could we have 30k plus with about 24k seating (that was before the NEZ). I guess the student section has probably double the actual "seating capacity " since they cram in and stand the whole game. Nothing like arriving at your seats and wondering how you and the wife will fit into what appears to be a space equivalent to maybe a seat and a half

Student sections and general admission (aka the hill) would be how we go way over "seating capacity".
