Had a great time in Charlotte with my son, brother, and three close friends. Thinking about the game on the way home, a few things stuck in my mind.
First, as great as BOA stadium is, after the excitement of being there wore off, I kept thinking how much I wished the game had been in Boone. There is no better place to watch our guys than at home.
Second, I also got tears as the video played. My NC State son said he has never seen any fans support their team or show more game enthusiasm then we did. He said he now understands why we love our school so much.
Thirdly, I found the East Carolina Fans to be a good bunch. This morning at the hotel, they were friendly, congratulatory, and respectful of our success. Several commented they pulled for us, especially when we played in-state P5's.
All in all, a great way to start the season.
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Losing? I thought we could have been up 4 TDs at the half.

Yeah I missed that one. Was surprised after the opening 25 minutes. Either way, the AAC was not good yesterday and are having an even worse Friday.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 6:20 pmUCF wonBeauFoster wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 5:13 pmThe AAC had quite the day yesterday. Happy birthday amigoMcLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 10:39 amBetween my birthday today, only getting 3 hours sleep last night before heading to school today to teach, getting a short train ride in on the Blue line yesterday and, oh beating ECU, I am on an adrenaline rush right now. Mostly to not getting enough sleep I am sure.Regardless of the reason I am still riding high.
Anywhoooo, that offense last night was an absolute thing of beauty.
I always get a bit sappy around this time as we in App Nation remember the Michigan game. My dad passed away after the 2007 season and that season and game always brings back good memories of my dad. The two of us and sometimes others in the family had a great time at many of the home games that year.
Anyways, the video they played at the start of the 4th quarter cut off the great plays of the 3rd quarter and my first reaction was "Well crap." But that video almost had me in tears. That was a wonderful love letter to the fans of App State. And the crowd reaction was part of why it was so great. They need to do that every game.
The guy behind me also mentioned he got a bit choked up seeing all the clips and not just football but aerial shots of campus and the viaduct. It was all there.

Re: Thoughts on ECU-the next day
I had very similar thoughts, and will add the best QB in the conference didn’t get any preseason accolades. I saw a better team on both sides of the ball than our 2019 team play last night, not leaving anyone out but taken to a higher plane by a QB that is a legitimately accurate passer that can stretch the field with his arm. One game in the books, and I know there is a lot of football to play, but I’d wager it’s our championship to lose.
I think we’ll show better in Miami than I thinking before our solid performance last night.

Re: Thoughts on ECU-the next day
For me personally as it relates to CCU once we get to that game, I hope we come out and run it all over them. I want Peoples to have two halves like his first half last November. I want to break their will to want to compete...
Until then..next one up... let's beat the "n"

Not to toot my own horn, (well yes I am), but I said in a previous thread that Brice was going to be 1st team all conference. I said what I said.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 8:06 pmI had very similar thoughts, and will add the best QB in the conference didn’t get any preseason accolades. Well he did fail to see a wide open Hennigan on a blown coverage....
Why did the ND transfer not play before Castle?

Re: Thoughts on ECU-the next day
UCF pulled it out over Boise in the end, but the AAC boards were really funny around 9:30 or so when all their other games were over and UCF still looked to be getting smoked. There were folks over there talking about how the Belt is passing them by.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 6:20 pmUCF wonBeauFoster wrote: ↑Fri Sep 03, 2021 5:13 pmThe AAC had quite the day yesterday. Frankly, once the Big 12 reloads with the AAC's heavies, that Frankenstein's monster of a conference should just die a slow death.

I was also in CLT last night. Got home at 3 AM.
Re: Thoughts on ECU-the next day
One area we lost in. Was the fisticuffs segment. 3? ECU guys really clobbered an ASU guy. The only one coming to the ASU guys rescue was a woman. Saw the vid on a tweet. Have no idea what it was all about.
It was so good to see an offense that actually had some flavors other than vanilla. And when the D decided to bring it it was a mountain slide! We took down the flag and sunk the ship. Time to take down the hurricane warning.

Re: Thoughts on ECU-the next day
Walking back to the hotel, I may have seen the start of this. There were 3 or 4 ECU guys standing on the side of the street and the App fan walked past them talking trash and continued on his way. A couple of the ECU fans yelled back and all started walking in his direction. Not thinking much about it, as it didn't seem that serious, I kept going. Turned around a moment later, and it looked like the ECU fans had surrounded him about 30 yards down the street but I couldn't see anything that looked physical. The group were in plain sight of two cops standing in the street intersection so I figured it would be all right. Guess I was wrong.
