Appreciating all that he brought to our program and commenting on his play are not mutually exclusive.NewApp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:48 pmCan't believe that a few short weeks ago, some members of this forum thought Zac should be benched in mid season and put most of the blame on him for our three losses. Geez.
Glad to see he finally got the kudos he deserved. One of the best QB's in our history and that says a heck of a lot.

Re: Zac Gone
That’s absolutely correct. The eye test showed some regression. I’m also very thankful for what he did as our QB, especially in 2019 against both of the Carolinasappst89 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:56 pmAppreciating all that he brought to our program and commenting on his play are not mutually exclusive.NewApp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:48 pmCan't believe that a few short weeks ago, some members of this forum thought Zac should be benched in mid season and put most of the blame on him for our three losses. Re: Zac Gone
It is when idiots call for benching him permanently in mid season. Commenting negative on his play but calling for him to be benched and put most of the blame on him for our three losses are whole different things. I never said he was perfect.appst89 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:56 pmAppreciating all that he brought to our program and commenting on his play are not mutually exclusive.NewApp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:48 pmCan't believe that a few short weeks ago, some members of this forum thought Zac should be benched in mid season and put most of the blame on him for our three losses. No, it's not. It's a message board. Explain. How can you praise him and still say he cost us three games and should be benched permanently?

This is not the thread for this.
ZT moved our program forward, helped us reach new heights. He gave his all for App State. He is Black and Gold through and Through!

Well, first, I never said any such thing. But, it's not difficult to appreciate all that he did for our program and still recognize that has play has not been up to the level that he established for himself. He will go down as one of the best to play at App and I'll always be grateful for what he did, but that doesn't make him, or anyone exempt from critique.
With that, I'm done with this. I have no desire to be dragged into one of your endless arguments.

Zac had one heck of a career at App. Multiple bowl wins, multiple Belt Championships, multiple P5 wins, and National rankings in FBS. Beat of luck to him in his future endeavors. Thank you Zac!!

Last word before you delete it. I never said that YOU did, however it was implied and actually specifically said by numerous ones. Interesting you deleted my reply to BF but didn't delete his comment that sparked it. Guess my instruction to him was too specific.appst89 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 1:30 pmWell, first, I never said any such thing. 2019: Zac Thomas, meet your new head coach, OC and QB coach, Eli Drinkwitz. "Hi Coach, I've heard and read a lot of great things about you and your system. Also loved the videos footage I've reviewed...I'm ready, let's go!"MAD Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 2:28 pmWish nothing but the best for this young man. 2020: Zac Thomas, meet your new OC and QB coach, Tony Petersen. "Hi Coach, I've heard and read a lot of things about you."
This is a tale of two very different snapshots in time. The spark between Zac and Coach Petersen was never there. I could see it in Zac's body language and his facial expressions. Zac was never completely sold on what he was being asked to do in 2020. App football was no longer fun to him. There was an obvious sadness there. That played a big role, in my opinion, in Zac's decision to take the off-ramp.
Nonetheless, he was one of our greatest of all time and a first ballot App State Hall of Fame member in his first year of eligibility--2025! No doubt in my mind! None!

Body langue reading can be tricky and very misleading.
