Re: AAC SUCKS!
I defended the AAC before simply because of their OOC record and they have done well in NY6 games but if Cincy, SMU, Navy, and Memphis don't do much better than Temple did then I will retract that earlier opinion and say we got screwed. I want to see how Memphis does particularly before I say we got hosed.
It will be interesting to see preseason polls but you could argue on paper that we won't be as good next year. We lose Evans, Johnson, and several major cogs on defense. The reality is we could still be better. We will see.
If Memphis loses to Penn State we should pass them in the final rankings, unless it is an overtime type loss. So far nobody from a P5 will pass us in the final rankings and Washington is the only one who I think should move in to the rankings that was not ranked. That win over Boise was a blowout. Boise State should fall out because of it.

Re: AAC SUCKS!
From the games I saw this year, Memphis and Navy were good teams. Wasn't really impressed with anyone else in the AAC, at least of the teams I was able to watch.

Many of you guys appear to be new to college football. The AAC is 4-12 all time vs the G5 in bowl games. They have a losing bowl record every year. Nothing new.

I only wanted to reference your comment that we may not be as good next year. Yes anything is possible. But you cant just list who we lost. Last year we lost duck, moore, Godwin, stout, heath and hayes. Every team loses players.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 5:24 pmI defended the AAC before simply because of their OOC record and they have done well in NY6 games but if Cincy, SMU, Navy, and Memphis don't do much better than Temple did then I will retract that earlier opinion and say we got screwed. But we are returning 9 offensive starters and 6 defensive starters. We should be absolutely loaded. On paper...should be best app team ever.

Too lazy to look it up, so what are our losses from a 2-deep viewpoint?AppSt12 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 6:28 pmI only wanted to reference your comment that we may not be as good next year. Re: AAC SUCKS!
My point was that I can see voters looking at the losses and thinking App may not be a top 25 team next year. We should be ranked in the preseason but it would not shock me if we aren't.AppSt12 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 6:28 pmI only wanted to reference your comment that we may not be as good next year. I agree with you on our team. In a few cases the player taking over is actually a little faster or better. We are losing some experience but I think we could go undefeated. Take it one game at a time and this off-season is critical. Hopefully we can fill a couple holes in terms of depth and no key players from the two-deep transfer for more playing time. We truly have a chance at an even better season.

Returning 16 of 22 on the 2 deep on offense and 16 of 22 on the 2 deep on defense. 2021 should be very scary because we have 29 seniors next year.Rick83 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 6:49 pmToo lazy to look it up, so what are our losses from a 2-deep viewpoint?AppSt12 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 6:28 pmI only wanted to reference your comment that we may not be as good next year. Re: AAC SUCKS!
Even with what y'all said, winning next season in Winston-Salem and Madison will be tougher than winning in Chapel Hole and Columbia was this year.

I do think they have more good teams than the Sun Belt does. I really think App can beat any AAC team, Louisiana can probably also beat any of the teams, after that it is a toss up between our mid level and lesser teams and their mid level and lesser teams. In other words, I think Arkansas State can beat their lower teams and play competitively with their mid level teams but may not get the win.

The AAC does not suck. It’s not as good as it thinks it is and it rides the coattails of our close friend @citroknight.
BUT, it doesn’t suck. We’d absolutely contend though.

Re: AAC SUCKS!
Bowl records for the G5 are a reflections of past perception (when the bowl tie ins were set) and current competitiveness. The Sun Belt has the weakest bowl ties in opponents but is a clear third in the G5 conference rankings.

Re: AAC SUCKS!
App State and Louisiana could contend right now.
The reason the AAC gets more hype (along with Aresco doing his thing) is because of having a few more App/Louisiana quality teams. The SunBelt has other teams with that potential that have performed in the past like Troy, Arkansas State, and even Georgia Southern. But it just seems like it's never more than 2 or 3 performing well the same year compared to 4-6 AAC teams on good years.

I wish we could do what the English Premier League does. Relegate the bottom 2 teams in each P5 conference to G5 and promote the top 2 teams in each G5 to selected conferences.

Re: AAC SUCKS!
I’ve had this dream before.
Tie a G5 conference to a P5 conference and promote/relegate either 1-2 from each.
PAC 12 & MWC
Big 12 & CUSA
Big 10 & MAC
ACC & AAC
SEC & Sunbelt
App and UL would go to the SEC, Vandy and Arkansas to the Belt (hilarious)
Memphis and Cincy to the ACC
NC State and Ga Tech to the AAC
Miami Oh and CMU to the Big 10 (yikes)
Rutgers and Northwestern/Maryland to the MAC
FAU and La Tech/UAB to the Big 12
Kansas and Texas Tech to CUSA
Boise and Air Force/Hawaii to the PAC 12
Stanford and Arizona to MWC
It would absolutely have to be football only. A couple years in I imagine the conferences would look pretty wild.

Don’t know how it could done but some revenue sharing would help. You would think the NCAA would see the problem created by having 5 to 10 teams control the conversation.

I don't care how much you might think they suck. IF they came a-knocking, you know we'd be all over that invite. The exposure and tv deal alone would be huge for our program.

Re: AAC SUCKS!
They have fared pretty well in the NY6 the last few years. Sadly, we don't know how good we are compared to the top 20 P5 teams because we played very close against a 6-6 ACC team and a 4-win SEC team. Had we beat SC and UNC by like 20-27 each I would say we got hosed for sure but I still think Memphis is good.
I believe we could beat Memphis but I'm not sure we would destroy them. Penn State is a top 15 team and Memphis was in it until the last few minutes of the ball game. I would say UNC is about as good as Kansas State though so if KSU beats Cincy easily then I'll feel like maybe we got screwed. I believe Kansas State is just slightly better than the two P5 teams we beat so let's see how Cincy does. Penn State is way better than UNC and SC so I still think we need to see the rest of bowl season.

Re: AAC SUCKS!
The AAC is over hyped. How many of their games exhibit a lack of defense? They run up and down the field against each other in their games and that lack of defense is glaring when they face decent P5’s.
