Stringer is going to be the most difficult piece to replace next year.
We’ve got about eight key guys to replace next year, it’ll be Satts toughest year since 2014.
Yes, but he will be the toughest of them all. You saw how much he was missed against ULM. Best open field tackler that we have.
We did miss him for sure. I feel OK about replacing the guys we lose on defense though. More concerned about Lamb, Nunn and Gossett.

I was very pleased with the game yesterday, especially the final result. I still think that the Wake game was our best game of the season in terms of a four quarter effort (special teams being the exception). The guys do appear to be back on track with two solid efforts in a row. It's GREAT TO BE A MOUNTAINEER!

I would agree that replacing the pieces on defense are a bit easier because we do rotate guys in and out on defense so there is game experience. Stringer is one of those guys that provides the intangibles to go along with his obvious strengths. He makes the players around him better.

As far as the OL, do we have guys that can slide into the right side and play? Granted the right side is easier than the left if your QB is right handed. Understandably we will suffer a drop off in play with whoever replaces Nunn and Gosset, but do we have some road graders ready to go?

The rotations will help mask some of the seniors leaving, but it's hard to replace a guy like Stringer who is LUUUUUKE-esqe in how he covers the field. Saturday showed how much we missed him vs UMass and ULM.

The OL stopped up big. On a couple of the big runs, you saw a great seal followed by Jalin running free.

The biggest thing we will miss about Stringer is his coverage abilities. He just knows where to be at all times.

Stringer and Boggs on D side but overall , Lamb. Next year we will know how good he really is, or was. This year it was Critcher...

I really don't get all the hand wringing over our punting this year. Critcher was no doubt a weapon but I don't think there is as much drop off as folks think.
Just a comparison of this year to last:

2016 Critcher
His average was 41 yds/punt
47% of his punts were fair caught
38% of his punts were inside the 20
7 punts were 50+ yards
Long of 59
1 blocked

2017 Subotsch
His average so far is 40 yds/punt
43% of his punts have been fair caught
34% of his punts have been inside the 20
5 punts of 50+ yards
Long of 58
0 blocked

Does the fair caught percentage include punts downed by the kicking team? I assume that it does.

I'm not sure how that is counted but they would make sense.

Interesting.Perhaps more perception than reality on my part.Maybe I'm partial to the "classic style" of punting....I'm not crazy about this new concept of " soccer style " kicking either.Give me Lou Groza or George Blanda over Charlie and Pete Gogolak any day.

Atlanta media coverage was virtually nonexistent before and after the game. GA State has their work cut out for them in the Atlanta market. Friday night was high school football and previews of GA versus Georgia Tech, and a mention of Kennesaw State. Nothing about GA state. Saturday morning coverage all about the Georgia-Georgia Tech game. And the Falcons. Saturday night after the game two stations have no coverage, the other had Georgia-GT, Alabama, Kennesaw State and only a brief mention of the App-GSU game. App was well represented at the game. Stadium is unique but I enjoyed attending the game. Concession stand lines were long LOL but having beer was a plus LOL

Stringer is the reason for the turnaround. Without him this defense was unable to function anywhere near the level they do with him. Perhaps the most underrated App player, as it pertains to the success of the team, in recent memory.

One of the stations had a football recap show Saturday evening where they had a pretty nice highlight package of the game, but yes, you are mostly correct, GA State does not move the tiniest needle here in this town. I've been saying that since they started football. The only time GA State athletics ever got any decent coverage in the 30-plus years I've been here was when they brought Lefty Driesell out of retirement to coach the basketball team for a couple of years. It will take many years of highly exceptional development for that to change at all.

No doubt, stylistically they are complete opposites.

Even though Lamb had one of his weakest games of the year, all other facets of our team looked great. Very encouraging going into Louisiana game and the Bowl game.

The unsportsmanlike on Boggs was BS. A celebration after a sack not targeted at any opposing player.

Also, EJ Scott (finally healthy) is solid and Flory can flat out fly for his size. D did a good job shutting down hart.

After a big play, just trot back to the bench, huddle, or hand the ball to the ref, and guess what, there is no penalty. Only people who like hot dogs and show offs are hot dogs and showoffs.

GS is having a good year but still thousands more empty seats than filled. What a waste of good concrete and aluminum.

The good news is that Taylor usually follows up a poor performance with a strong one. And, the poor ones are few and far between.

Disagree with your assessment of the play. Boggs didn't do anything that isn't done 99% of the time a sack is made. He didn't show anyone up. The only difference is that some old white guy with an axe to grind felt the need to flag him for it.

I'd say Taylor had one bad throw (the 2nd INT), but overall he had a solid game. The 1st INT was due to a bad route by the WR judging by the talk on the sideline. It was pretty clear we wanted to run the ball.
