I don't remember it like that. As I recall, we had Reeves & Jeremiah platooning (more or less) as QB. Jeremiah was a transfer from SE Louisiana State (I think), and played 2 years or so. I seem to recall Reeves was a transfer too (Air Force?). His dad was NFL coach, Dan Reeves. Burchette came in next. He was huge, 6'4", 235 lbs. and a great guy. My kids (small at the time) got to speak to him a number of times on the field after games. He had a cannon for an arm & ran like a water-heater (big & slow). Back then, we ran the power-I. My favorite Burchette memory ever was on a sweep to the left, he pitched the ball & lead the blocking. He ran OVER a linebacker. Pancake. It was GREAT!!!!

I know Jeremiah is a bigwig in the NFL. Anyone know what Burchette is up to?

Butchette was a couple years behind Reaves and Jeremiah, but all three were definitely on the roster at the same time and all saw the field during the same season.

Different Reeves. Dan Reeves, David Reaves.

Yes, you are correct- there was one game, if my old mind isn't mistaken, where Joe was on the sideline not in uniform because of an injury and Jeremiah and Reeves both got banged up and they sent Joe in to the locker room during the 1st Q to get his uniform on and he ended up finishing the game ---

Oh yeah, I misread this as correct, but I can see where AppAlum got mixed up. David's father is former Florida and NFL QB John Reaves: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Reaves

If I remember correctly... Burchette had a pretty odd High School career and was involved in a small town controversy.... I believe he was benched in favor of the coach's son and therefore wasn't as highly recruited as some might have thought he should have been. He did have the prototypical size and "demeanor" for a Division 1 QB. I once heard Coach Moore reference that he would have been the starter at the beginning of the year over Reaves and Jeremiah had he possessed the work ethic and made more of an effort. He ended up having a decent career and if I remember correctly was injured for the opener against Marshall one year and a young Richie Williams got the start.

You are correct about the high school situation. Joe and I went to the same school (he was a year ahead of me), and I knew Joe relatively well. Our head coach had a 5'9 son that could run but didn't have much of an arm. Joe had a very good Junior year and started to get a lot of attention from some major programs. Going into his senior year the coach changed from a drop back passing offense to the old Veer which fit his son much better. Joe started the year but clearly didn't fit the scheme so eventually the coaches son got the start.

He may not have worked as hard as some, but he had a naturally gifted arm. His numbers are still impressive considering the amount of time he split with other QB's, and that he wasn't a perfect fit for our offense either. Had we run a Shotgun passing scheme there is no telling how many yards he would have put up.
