We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
Surprise surprise. He was being recruited by Lonnie Galloway at Wake. Wake must have filled his spot or lost interest, Galloway prolly gave us the heads up. Could be a steal if Galloway thought enough of him to do that.asumike83 wrote:DE/TE Natron Gidney (6-2, 230) of local power Crest HS in Shelby tweeted:

This wont be the first recruit that he'd have steered our way.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
Did any of you guys who are also Rivals members notice the quote from Jones in the latest news section "Jones still has two favorites" of his Rivals profile. I've seen that from a several others I've been watching this year. For those who aren't members he said, in short, if App was D-1, not D-1AA he would have already committed. His words, not mine.AppGrad78 wrote:DB Dante Jones (5-11, 170) of Southeast Raleigh High School in Raleigh recently told Scout.com that Appalachian State and Middle Tennessee State were his top choices. Rivals.com is reporting that high three-star DB Anthony Covington (5-11, 185) of Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte has committed to Appalachian State. Covington committed to Pitt in September but decommitted a month later. He holds offers from more than a dozen FBS programs.

Just read this! The article says that he essentially 1 point away from being a 4-Star recruit. Looks like a huge commitment for App. Hopefully more to comeAppGrad78 wrote:Rivals.com is reporting that high three-star DB Anthony Covington (5-11, 185) of Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte has committed to Appalachian State. Re: Recruiting, 2013
If Middleton and Blackmon come back from their injuries and with what we have returning we are looking pretty good in the D-backfield. This kid missed by one point being a 4 star Rivals player and grades 76 on ESPN. Most of his FBS offers are BCS offers. Looks like a great pickup.AppGrad78 wrote:Rivals.com is reporting that high three-star DB Anthony Covington (5-11, 185) of Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte has committed to Appalachian State. Rivals also had him listed in their top 25 in NC, preseason. Make a switch back to the 4-3 and that would be an awesome secondary

Good news is that he's graduated early and looking to enroll next semester so barring something crazy in the next couple weeks, he's looking ASU bound.

Covington is the real deal. Hope he can show the rest of our guys how to tackle.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
He decommitted from Pitt because they wanted to use his offer on a local kid. Someone mentioned on the Rivals board that he may have been promised to start right away at App since he would be arguably the best corner from day 1bcoach wrote:Does it make you wonder why?AppGrad78 wrote:Rivals.com is reporting that high three-star DB Anthony Covington (5-11, 185) of Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte has committed to Appalachian State. Re: Recruiting, 2013
When in Man coverage LOTT had No one throw his direction the last half of the season. He was at safety for most of the first half in a cover 2 coverage. I'd honestly say Lott is a better FS but to say he will be the best CB the second he sets foot on campus might be a stretch!mtnjax wrote:He decommitted from Pitt because they wanted to use his offer on a local kid. Re: Recruiting, 2013
I didn't mean that as a slight to Lott. I thought he had played great at CB this season considering it was his first. I just think he would be a better FS like you do. I'm really saying that, if this kid i as good as his Rivals rating he should be starting at CB along with Blackmon who from early camp reports would have started day 1 and let Lott play FSasutrnr81 wrote:When in Man coverage LOTT had No one throw his direction the last half of the season.
