This is one of the big reasons I don't like neutral site games and your question almost exactly expresses my thoughts. I will also add as a season ticket holder I view it as we finally start scheduling games we have all dreamed about and then we start moving them to neutral sites - is one game with ecu going to open the floodgates? Oftentimes such games are not included in season ticket packages. For all intents and purposes, to the fan/season ticket-holder, it is another away game.

Now, if somehow we are still able to pull 6 games in Boone with decent opponents and the neutral site game is a 7th "home" game instead of a true "away" game, the business side of me can see the fiscal benefits clear as day (an extra gate). Fan side of me is still on the fence (see above), but much more palatable.

I don't see a scenario where we don't still have 6 games in Boone the year we do the ECU game in Charlotte.

Five home games? No. Play an FCS team to offset the neutral site game? Sure.

In fact, it does offer the strategic advantage of making UNCC less relevant right in their own backyard. Being in Charlotte may not exactly be to the liking of App fans, but you can imagine what Judy Rose's reaction to the announcement will be. She won't be a happy camper!
I think this is 100% right. I'd gladly give up a home game to play a in-state "rival" in Charlotte. I think we have to be aware of what UNCC's football program might do to our long term recruiting. Charlotte is closer to most of our alumni base than is Boone. It is closer to Boone than Greenville. I think playing a neutral site game is a sign of respect not disrespect (e.g. UNC is playing UGA in Atlanta). The attendance will be bigger than it could be in Boone and likely larger than it was in Montgomery. And most importantly, those of us 21 and over will have the opportunity to overpay for beer.

If we sign a 2-1-1 there are only a few conditions I would put on it to be considered good for us. First, we're the listed home team so we can invite recruits. Second, we get a favorable split of the money made. Third, we still play six games in Boone that season. If all three of those things happen I think it would be silly of us not to do this series.

Exactly! So much complaining going on. Of course giving up a home game isn't ideal at all, but these are the teams we need to be playing (in-state rivalries are awesome) and if this is what we have to start with that's fine with me.

A little concerned who the promoter might be on this. Let's hope it is not the same people who put on the UNC vs SCar opening game last year. They priced themselves out of the market and no one showed up. $250 for a 300 level seat. I can promise at those prices, little if any attendance.

We will have 6 home games in Boone any year a neutral site game is in play.

Given what it looked like after the half v. ODU, I'd much rather play ECU in Charlotte. We played great but where was the "we must expand the stadium" fan base?

Bout time this was announced. That free rent at BOA is helping out big time with this deal.

Now that's awesome! Can't wait to hear the details, is this the 2019 thing that DG was excited about, but not disclosing, a little while ago?

I believe 2019 is something else.

App will be the home team in Charlotte, but not lose a Boone home game that year.

2-1-1, 1-1-1, or something else?

2-1-1, 1-1-1, or something else?

So does that mean it is going to be beyond 2019 or will someone else be moved.

My guess is 2021 - 2024 seasons. ECU's schedule is full until then:

I think this was the worse secret ever kept, since I've been hearing about this since around the 2nd home game, if not sooner. But one thing I have not heard was the dates.

The game in Charlotte will be an App home game.

So if they're treating Charlotte as a home game for us it would be a 2-1-1?
