Re: Clemson game thread and discussion
Thanks for all the suggestions and info. This is what I'm going to go with - a great time to explore options and why they do free trials I guess. Who knows, maybe I stick with ithapapp wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 12:52 pmI subscribed to YouTube TV. You can get a free trial and you can generally cancel whenever you wish. I am considering dumping DTV altogether.App4that wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 11:13 amI may have missed this somewhere in another thread:
I'm on DirectTV / ESPN+ which are feuding over price right now and are blacked out (for those of you that don't know). ACC Network is part of that same ESPN/ABC sports package, so unless they work things out this week, I'm SOL watching the game.
Any suggestions for a reasonably priced workaround? I'm OK with paying one month of a subscription to watch, but a little out of touch on where to even start looking.
Wish I could go in person, but toddlers and a night game made for an easy family business decision otherwise. Also, yes I know I'm overpaying for TV and subscriptions - not hoping for finer points of streaming vs. other setups at the house, just wanting to watch App win this weekend and be shouting at the TV in my living room.

Who is with me in thinking this game will start out with the most live viewership for any App game in history? If it was on a mainstream network with more accessibility, I would have no doubt.

If you love your Paramount plus and the Disney/ESPN+ and you have got to have your BigTen, SEC networks and the Fox and CBS sports and more along with the ACC network.....the best deal is Spectrum Select Plus streaming plan for the money....do your own research and let me know if it can be beat given the aforementioned specs. Comes out to about $99/mo before taxes of additional +/-$8. I could not find a better deal with this content.

It does feel different. I think, for the first time, the power conference opponent is one of consequence. It matters a great deal to how the CFP will shake out, and it will be a playoff game atmosphere. A win, at night, in Death Valley would certainly signify something.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 8:00 amWho is with me in thinking this game will start out with the most live viewership for any App game in history? What would make it better is if Boise State also beat Oregon. And obviously it’s a long season so anything can happen but what would a CFP with App, Memphis, and Boise all vying for a spot look like? Could we get a G5 auto bid and a G5 at large?

The Autonomous Four really need the weakest non-autonomous conference team to qualify so they can say, "I told you they cannot compete with us so they should just break away and form their own playoff." A legit non-autonomous team needs to make the playoffs this year to keep the FBS intact.ericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 9:04 amIt does feel different. I think a G5 team can only get an at large bid if they’re one of the top 12 ranked teams in the country.ericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 9:04 amIt does feel different. This year it is the top 5 highest ranked conference champions so a G5 will get in.KentHogan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 11:56 amI think a G5 team can only get an at large bid if they’re one of the top 12 ranked teams in the country.ericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 9:04 amIt does feel different. Per NCAA: The new 12-team College Football Playoff field will include the five highest-ranked conference champions, which will receive automatic bids. The seven highest-ranked teams remaining will round out the 12-team format. The top four teams will receive a first-round bye to the quarterfinals

Re: Clemson game thread and discussion
For those of you not paying attention, EA Sports NCAA College Football ran 50 simulations of the season. SIM 13 had App being the 4th highest ranked conference champion. They received a first round bye as a result, kicked a last second FG in the semis to beat Ohio State and beat Geogia in the championship by 11 in Atlanta. If we can beat Georgia by 11, we’ll destroy Clemson.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 12:08 pmThis year it is the top 5 highest ranked conference champions so a G5 will get in.KentHogan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 11:56 amI think a G5 team can only get an at large bid if they’re one of the top 12 ranked teams in the country.ericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 9:04 amIt does feel different. Re: Clemson game thread and discussion
It would have to play out right but I could see that scenario happen. If the ACC Champ is 10-3 I could see that happen. I think it would help if Clemson finished with 8+ wins and was ranked.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 2:57 pmIf Boise State and App both go undefeated, they could be ranked ahead of the ACC champAppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 12:08 pmThis year it is the top 5 highest ranked conference champions so a G5 will get in.KentHogan wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 11:56 amI think a G5 team can only get an at large bid if they’re one of the top 12 ranked teams in the country.ericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 9:04 amIt does feel different. Re: Clemson game thread and discussion
Clemson knows App is coming after their playoff spot. Winning this Game would legitimize App as a top FBS program for the next decade across the US. Wont ever again be thought of as fluke wins against P2 -P4 teams. App would be scheduled as a team to help P2- P4s increase their SoS.
