Mack's point and my point is....with better relationships with NC coaches the FBS schools in the state may not be losing many kids to the Big 10 or the SEC or anybody.

I KNOW that there were years when NO-ONE from ASU even stopped by A. L. Brown, KonKord, hardly anywhere in Cabarrus County and we had a staff member from Kannapolis on the ASU staff. Heck Salisbury (Joe Pinyan ASU '81) and West Rowan during their championship runs had kids that played college ball and were interested in ASU but they could get NO attention.

Now that is beginning to change....and "you" can say what you want....in most all aspects of life....being successful is about developing and keeping and nurturing relationships.

Since the spring/fall of 2012 I have gotten more response from our staffs of Football, and women's basketball than any other group of coaches we have:

Men's Basketball: NO response
Softball: NO response

It is pretty simple. You go where the talent is. Are there great football players in NC? Of course. But there are far more in Florida and Georgia. With less competition for each. It is pretty simple math. I personally like the fact we have widened the net. Corey Lynch FL...Armanti SC.....Dexter Jackson GA....Brian Quick GA.....Deandre Pressley...FL....Jamal Londry-Jackson...GA. Kerry Brown GA.....Travaris Cadet FL......Jeremy Kimborough GA.....Mark LeGree GA.....Most of our best players have come from GA FL and SC. If it ain't broke......

I know stopping by can be good for relations. But if you
don't have an actual reason to then you probably get caught
up with someone trying to sell you on someone that obviously
isn't a guy for your school.

You'd better be ABLE to go back and at least be able to talk to the coach.....and AGAIN relationships are important.

That is not the reason to stop by....and most people know right off where their kids are slotted.

I tell you what.....don't visit Wake, Durham, Meck, Cumberland, Guilford for a few years and see how many kids you get out of there.....we ain't Ohio St. or Alabama....***(and thank God we are not)

OK I quit!

I agree with my K-Town friend. Even if there is nobody at a school you're interested in, you need to stop by and talk to the coaches to see what might be coming down the pipe. No seniors? There is probably a junior or sophomore worth talking about (and players do transfer). High school coaches know who can and can't play at the next level, and they won't push one of thier kids into a situaion they'll not be successful in. They also won't risk damaging their connections for another kid that will fit the college's need the next year.

I also dare say that between the Rowan/Cabarrus schools, there are more than a few kids each year that can play at Appalachian. Maybe this year that kid is at Concord, and the next year another would be at K-Town (or South Rowan, Mount, etc.), but they are there, and it's worth it for someone from the staff to pay a visit to every school in NC (West of Raleigh, if time is an issue) once a year.

Cutcliffe from Duke has made it a point to recruit Union and Mecklenburg counties very hard. He has gotten a couple of guys from Monroe High School. There are several good football players coming out of Mecklenburg County every year. I agree we can find quality players in state. Charlotte private schools are putting out the football players. I worked a Charlotte Catholic game last year, and their oline resembled a college line.

Jamill Lott, cornerback at App State has graduated and has chosen to play his last year of eligibility at Jacksonville State.

Above was posted on the SBC CSNbbs.com site.

Your point is valid, and I don't mean to nit pick, but I think Brian Quick was from Columbia, SC.

Just saw on twitter that Nico Pierre, a QB we had offered, committed to Duke today. though, I doubt we are in the market for any QBs now that we got our top choice and another solid pickup

That must have been a late tweet as he committed back on the 24th. I moved him that day. You are correct as we got our top pick and another kid who was at the top of the board. Unless someone de-commits or a huge surprise falls into our laps we're done with QB's for this year. Long way to go until signing day but Caruso is a December graduate so we won't have to wait as long for him since he's planning on enrolling in January. We'll see what happens in the next 4 months. Fingers crossed on both.

Maybe the reason for a lack of NC recruiting is that the NCHSAA coaches are still pissy about our Friday night game? Remember that? ;)

And I can vouch for football and WBB communicating well as well as MBB not doing so.

Just wanted everyone to know I've got a trip to southern AL tomorrow (leaving at 3:30 am). I've asked 78' to text me if anything happens tomorrow. Everybody feel free to post any offers or commits that pop up in the respective recruiting threads and I'll bust open all my search engines when I get back tomorrow evening and update any pages as need be. Another long trip but I've got to pay a few bills. ;) I'll get on it as soon as I get back (the computer for those of you with gutter mind) and get everybody updated ASAP, providing I don't fall asleep sitting in a chair with my computer on my lap like I did after I got back from Michigan. :D

Type to you tomorrow night.

Per twitter reports DL/LB Myquon Stout (6′ 1″ 255) of Jesse C Carson High School in China Grove, NC has committed to App. He reportedly chose App over Campbell, Charlotte, ECU, Furman, North Carolina A&T and Wofford. It's been reported in the past few weeks that it was down to App and ECU with most predicting he would choose ECU. I'll be moving him to the commit list shortly.

The Salisbury Post published a story on Stout last November before the start of the playoffs.

Based on twitter and internet reports I've added a reported offer and moved a committed elsewhere back to the reported offers:

Based on reports App offer DB/LB Richard Cheren (6′ 1″ 195) of Park Vista Community High School in Lake Worth, FL had de-committed from FIU. I have placed him back in the Reported offers section.

In addition I've added DB Corey Seargent (6′ 0″ 175) of Northwestern High School in Rock Hill, SC to the page and put up a player page for him with video from his SO year. There seems to be some confusion about his name. Rivals has him as Cory Sargent. 247 has him as Cory Seargent. ESPN has him as Corey Seargent and lists him as a three star. I chose to go with Northwestern's roster page listing of his name until I can find out otherwise. He does show additional offers from UNCC, ECU, Kansas, and Nebraska so ESPN's rating and grade (74) seem on track.
