Re: So AL discussion
Looking at the replay, it appears Spurlin spit in the USA players face, who in turn started throwing punches.

Re: So AL discussion
That’s football. I guess no one saw what #52 may have done to set Spurlin off or would one of our guys do that for no reason? #52 was a head case. All kinds of unpleasantries happen in this rough sport.

If he spit in the guys face he shouldn't play another down for App. I would rather he throw a punch or say something about the guys mama. He deserved to be punched if that is what he did. Disagree with me if you want. Thats my opinion.

That is about as bad as it gets. What are you on about? Spitting is nasty. Add a pandemic.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 7:58 pmGood that’s not bad as it could have been. I feared worse.
If he really spat he needs to be cut.

Re: So AL discussion
Spurlin makes a gesture before the little shove, which you can't tell from the video what it is. Right before Spurlin turns his head away prior to the punch, his head goes forward a little bit in what appears to be a spitting motion.
Again, nothing confirmed, but if it Spurlin was innocent, Clark would have made a bigger deal about it in the postgame.

Re: So AL discussion
Spitting in someone’s face is not football. Trash talking is fine, but taking it down to that level is unsportsmanlike and a lack of class. I’m sure they were jawing back and forth, but there is absolutely no reason to spit in your opponent’s face for any reason whatsoever. If he truly did spit in his face, then I see why he was ejected.

Anybody ever have to miss watching our game and have to listen on the radio? Then later you read the game thread and see the gloom and doom comments only to scroll to the last few pages and realize that the win was a win. I’d like to give USA some credit for being a decent .500 program. If Spurlin did spit in a guy’s face that’s unbelievable behavior. The radio guys kept saying that he didn’t appear to do anything but perhaps he did. I don’t quite get why our backs often get benched after a fumble and sometimes don’t get back in the game. At any rate we won.

Re: So AL discussion
Good Grief (worst thing you can do on the FB field and not play another down at App)...things happen in scrums on the field much worse than this....he did not go for the knee or some low blow hit to injure someone. With that said... I agree, if he did spit on him, it is very poor sportsmanship. No, he should not be suspended. The extracurricular activities that Clark should have him do next week should fit the offense.

Re: So AL discussion
The stats on ESPN were apparently updated. Now showing 4 turnovers and TH with 2 fumbles. I was really confused on how the muffed punt would be scored since ESPN and App’s broadcast guys were saying 3 total turnovers. Needless to say, the team has to take better care of the ball. Turnovers have plagued the team this year with lots coming from upperclassmen. Luckily the Cajuns are the only team to make App pay for it thus far.

To assume that our guys won’t do crappy things because they’re our guys is the most homer position. I’m sorry but that’s not behavior I want representing my school and I don’t think it should be toleratedBlack Saturday wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 8:03 pmThat’s football. It’s one of the upsides to not being able to watch a a game.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 8:10 pmAnybody ever have to miss watching our game and have to listen on the radio? You’re right, USA is decent and the Sun Belt in general is in the rise.
It has always bothered me that the QB can throw 2-3 picks and doesn’t miss a snap, but if a RB fumbles he’s benched for at least a half. You can read into that a lot of different ways.

Re: So AL discussion
How long has Spurlin played at APP, I don’t ever recall anything in his history as this. Who saw him spit? Mob mentality to pass sentence and let #52 walk free. Let the man in charge of the program get to the bottom of this if he feels necessary. Hope the mob will not want the head man fired if they don’t get the sentence they want.Boonegoon wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 8:21 pmTo assume that our guys won’t do crappy things because they’re our guys is the most homer position. Re: So AL discussion
Watching the replay I dont think he spit on him but its weird how Spurlin had no reaction to being punched almost like he expected it. I mean he never looked pissed during the whole exchange so he wasnt bothered by any thing they were jawing about Other guy reacted like a psycho after the flag removing his helmet and flexing and talking to himself. I dont remember Spurlin ever doing something late or excessive the whole time hes been here.

I can guarantee you that he did not spit on him.Boonegoon wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 4:24 pmIt looked like he spat on him. I hope I’m wrong but I’d punch Spurlin also if that’s the caseASUTodd wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 3:43 pmHow in the Hades do you get ejected for a flagrant foul when all you did was say something. Lol. Stupidest thing ever. The kid that threw the punches should be gone for the season. If someone can get you to throw hands by merely saying something then you are mentally weak.
