People get too caught up in thenths of 40 times, "lateral movement", and all those other technical terms. I am concerned if a guy has the vision to see an opening develop and hit it quickly, makes tough yards after contact, has the ability to make people miss and a desire to win. Terrance McCall was a guy who looked like a thorobred race horse on paper. He had all the specs a coach looks for. In the open he was something to see, but the guy had no will and could not make a tough yard. On the other hand you here is Damond Scott. He didn't have a blazing 40 time, nor did he have all the flash of some other guys, but the guy made yards and he made them when it counted the most. I know a lot of the post '05 newbies will have a hard time with this, but in my opinion Damond is the second best back to ever wear Black & Gold. John Settle is obviously the one all others are measured by.

I came across a few nuggets of information while eyeing Twitter recently.
  • Our coaches have had a busy week of recruiting, making stops in St. Louis, Omaha (think Iowa Western), the Tidewater area, the Charlotte area, Miami, Georgia and South Carolina, among others. With the high school playoffs in full swing, our off week comes at a great time for recruiting.

Utah State commit Aaron Plantt is eagerly awaiting an offer from App.

Tacoi Sumler is practicing again. He's been bothered by fluid on a knee.

Malachi Jones is in South Bend, Ind., this weekend to see his brother's team take on Wake Forest.

Several other players are using the free weekend to get away from Boone.

Deuce Robinson is one of my favorite players to follow on Twitter. Always classy.

Paul McGloire is looking for a ride to Charlotte to catch a flight to New York. Says he will walk to Charlotte if he has to. Sounds homesick. Can't say as I blame him. That redshirt season can't be easy.

Guess they are making a hard push for the RB and OT from Iowa Western. Hopefully if they can land D.Jackson, he'll have a similar impact for this offense that the Steven Miller band has had.

If you're a booster, don't give P. Magloire a ride unless there are other students not on athletic scholarship needing a ride too. We don't need to be giving players "extra benefits" like getting a ride to see said player's parents. Does this also apply to students who are in the Student Yosef Club?

SYC members, no giving rides to student-athletes!

Excuse me for the "d". Why some people have to nit pic everything is beyond me. Elijah Hood may not have good "lateral movement" his forward movement is good enough to rack up 280+ yards and 6 TD's tonight giving him a county record 42 on the season. I'd take that guy in a heart beat.

Hood is a great player but no way we'd ever get a look from him.

Interesting bit of trivia, the TD record he just broke was held by ASU's own Rod Chisholm, who rushed for 42 touchdowns as a senior at Independence in 2007.

Looking at the Bridge's kid tape, he seems to run a bit stiff. Doesn't appear very flexible in the hips like K. Rich was. Strikes me as the kind of guy that probably ends up playing another position in college.

Re: Elijah Hood. That guy is a big time back. Nothing against the Phillips kid from AL Brown, but he was the 2nd best back on the field last night in their playoff game.

QB Vincent Jefferies (6-1, 166) of Garner High School in Garner says in a tweet that he hopes he'll be invited to Boone for an official visit.

Is E Hood related to Vee Hood and Boo Hood?

The wideout is probably Armani Lanier, who is listed as both a senior and a junior in the Rivals database. The senior version shows interest in App State.

Just for the record.....I watched the HUDL video as I said earlier....and then I saw him in person. He can play!

Sorry for my other comments....but the reason he does not show lateral movement against Weddington...is he does not have to....Hood can FLY, has a sense for the game and what he needs to do....he has another gear when he needs it.

I would still take K Phillips because behind the CC line he would have been the one breaking Rod's Meck records.

Hood is for real and so is Phillips......and we have a shot at KP.

Hood wants to play linebacker! He's the best back in the state andhe wants to play defense...So offer him! He's a junior and with Stanford and Michigan along with other DI schools in NC offering already it's doubtful that we would even get in the mailbox.........Notre Dame is starting to sniff now too.

Since it is unlikely we would get him...how about one of his lineman? Ryan Barkley. 6'4" and 280. Not the fastest but if you watch film he usually pancakes his opponent.

We might need some of CC recruiting lists...They seem to do a great job at it!
