My memory is crap, but there was a kid that transferred to App from Liberty back in the late 80's or early 90's that was listed at 6'9" or 6'10". The name is escaping me right now.
I believe the kid ended up in the Panthers training camp and played in a few pre-season games. Got cut. Cool to see an App guy but sadly he could barely move to block. I think his name was Lurch.

I agree. Mostly 2-star ratings. Looking at stink page with lots of 3's. Interesting stat on Mike and Mike this morning about Super Bowl starters- no 5 stars and plenty of 2's. I am curious about Anthony Flory- is he a zero star? Looks like his teams were very successful in Florida but was he even rated?
Minimum rating is 2* - zero stars means they haven't rated him yet. That's another thing not helping out class rating - 247 hasn't gotten around to rating three of our commits.

Surprise is closer. His school just posted a pic of him signing but I'm waiting for it to be official. I have his hudl package also to add to the post since he's not listed on the Main Page. I'll end this ASAP.

What drop off? Our average rating per player is higher than last year!!!

OK...here is the surprise I was referring to. I had him my personal notes but not on the board as it was late in the process and he wasn't listed on many of the sites. Since I can't edit the pages I am including his hudl package with this post. He's listed as an ATH/QB/FS but Mike and I figured he projects as a safety and he built the 24/7 profile to that effect.

NLI is in for ATH Gerald Morgan (6’ 2” 190) of Fitzgerald High School in Fitzgerald, GA. He’s officially a MOUNTAINEER!!!

Gerald Morgan has impressive highlight package showing some really good speed and shiftiness. Like the size that he brings to safety position. Also noticed that he has a strong arm and hits receivers in stride.

Moose, Do you think Morgan was waiting for an offer to be a QB and just never got one he liked?

Seems like a really solid prospect(Safety), but most of his senior film is QB.

One issue we hit this morning with Flory and Franklin was, since they weren't rated yet, when their NLI's came in and Mike updated the board they both defaulted to a 2 star 70 rating. No way either should be that low. Hopefully they will update it to a proper rating and not just let it go.

It's very possible that he was looking for that QB offer but it looks like we never had any doubt with him as his official App post shows him at CB. Given he's also played S he looks addition considering who we didn't sign. 6' 2" 190 is good size for both all the DB positions.

I think our coaches have found someone who floated under the radar because he played at a lower level in Georgia. His size and speed certainly look like someone who has the potential to contribute as a DB.

A lot of big plays on that tape. I wonder if he will return some punts for us as well.

Good to see App pickup a couple more guys that played QB in high school. They are usually among the best athletes on most HS teams and can develop into great college football players with some versatility and built in leadership skills.

Based on some of last years redshirts and some of the guys we've brought in this year I don't see returner being any problem at all for several years to come. Lots of choices.
