Maybe we can build a track and make Furman pay for it./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:I don't know why, but I read this in a Donald Trump voice in my head.bcoach wrote:I am not so sure about that. I am talking hundreds of thousands of letters.EastHallApp wrote:In terms of impressing a national audience, I suspect the track and especially the end zones are more of an issue for App State diehards than for anyone else.

Oh and they will...Believe me. Our track will be YYYUUGGGGEEE. The Great Track of Eugene, Oregon will be peanuts compared to what we will have.AppinVA wrote:Maybe we can build a track and make Furman pay for it./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:I don't know why, but I read this in a Donald Trump voice in my head.bcoach wrote:I am not so sure about that. Soccer lines on the field def. looked bad. But the field is on camera for the entire game. The track will only occasionally be visible in a few wide shots, mostly coming in and out of commercial breaks at the beginning of quarters./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:This is not true. Many of my peers frequently commented on the track, and soccer lines we used to have back in the days. The performance of Armanti Edwards and company was their number one observation, however it was noticed by non diehards that our field looked similar to a high school field. I can accept the track, but the endzones look terrible.EastHallApp wrote:In terms of impressing a national audience, I suspect the track and especially the end zones are more of an issue for App State diehards than for anyone else.
Maybe I'm wrong and it's just me. I just never spend much time taking an in-depth look at the sideline areas of other teams' stadiums when I'm watching on TV.

If we didn't have the hill we couple mimic Nevadas stadium. Then get track covers for the side.
I am kind of surprised Gillian hasn't announced any small projects to the stadium. Last year he put the wall signs up.

To me its more about getting the fans in the end zone closer to the action which would create a better atmosphere. I doubt we move the sidelines much closer if any, but having fans in both ends right on top of the field would make KBS even louder than it is now.EastHallApp wrote:Soccer lines on the field def. looked bad. Re: Miami game at 12 pm on ESPN or ESPN 2
It's a very expensive proposition, given the nature of the rock, versus the relatively easier red clay in Durham, but when Duke removed the track from Wallace Wade, they actually dug deeper and dropped the field level by 8-10 feet. Then they build more stands down closer to the sidelines and the playing field. Aside from the afore mentioned bedrock versus red clay, the first row of the old Wallace Wade was closer to 6 feet from the track surface, so App would have to dig further down to be able to expand the seats down and get anything significantly closer to the field. All that said, it is an option that would avoid rebuilding the away side and moving that whole kit and caboodle closer to the press box stands.
I do think that creating a horseshoe and getting the hill side fans closer to the field would be a big win for atmosphere, loudness and TV appearance. It's also the cheapest option of the bunch.

It's official. Noon on ESPN. Not 2, not U, not Ocho, the mothership. Right after Corso puts on his headgear.
