2017 Schedule Speculation

Without researching it I bet App's 4 is the most D1 Georgia schools on anyone's schedule.

Does anyone know if that TV money is more than what we would make on a home Sat.? Thought i heard $250k which is alot less than what we make. IMO we cannot afford these midweek games, they cost us too much money.

30,837 showed up to see 3-3 South Alabama, on a Thursday night, play Troy even though the game was televised on ESPNU. Think we'll see that many folks show up for a 3:30 Saturday homecoming game which will only be available online?

Unfortunately, I dont. You also cannot discount that SBama and Troy are bitter in-state rivals that are just 2.5 hours away from eachother.

5th all time meeting, let's not go crazy with a bitter rivalry.

Both schools have done a great job of making it just that. I understand that Troy took 20+ buses to USA.
Hoping we get 2/3 of that attendance # tomorrow.

We have a very small fan base. Until we grow that, any other discussion (stadium expansion, "better" conference, etc.) should stop.

Fresno State "counts" as a power 5 team per B1G so that GaSo game could be scheduled.

Minnesota head coach Tracy Claeys confirmed to the Star Tribune that they were given an exception to count the Bulldogs.

“Otherwise we wouldn’t have done that,” Claeys said. “[The Big Ten] has to approve it.”

Minnesota scheduled Fresno State for a home-and-home series about one month prior to the Big Ten announcing their strength of schedule commitment.

Fresno State is 34-38 over the past six seasons, including 1-6 this season. The Bulldogs’ last winning season was in 2013 when they went 11-2 and won the Mountain West championship.

Here’s an updated look at who each conference can schedule, per reports:

ACC (2017+)

Any team from the Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12, and SEC, plus BYU and Notre Dame.

Big 12 (2017+)

Any team from the ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12, and SEC, plus Notre Dame.

Big Ten (2016+)

Any team from the ACC, Big 12, Pac-12, and SEC, plus Air Force, Army, BYU, Cincinnati, Fresno State, Navy, Notre Dame, and UConn. No FCS opponents.

SEC (2016+)

Any team from the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, and Pac-12, plus Army, BYU and Notre Dame.

We have a very small fan base. Until we grow that, any other discussion (stadium expansion, "better" conference, etc.) should stop.

Alot of the better conference talk is simply realigning the G5 due to how spread out the conferences are. This is really an issue with the CUSA and Sun Belt. Travel for the Olympic sports is brutal on budget for both.

The fan base is fine. We have a better base than the average G5 school. Don't get me wrong I'd love to grow it more but it's not a huge problem.
