If true I'm sorry to hear this. I don't think "mini package" holders are the ones that need the most squeezing. Personally I don't even care for the term. We are YC members and have had the same seats for years. I pretty much consider myself to be a season ticket holder. As mentioned above, for those of us that attend games as a family upgrading to full season means a significant additional cost that doesn't change the fundamentals of us being able to make games.
TheMoody1 wrote:The mini package made more sense in the SoCon. Three games in Boone and for many there were two or three easy road games to attend. In the Sun Belt to attend 5 or six games it is a lot closer just to go to all 6 games in Boone.
I suppose if you start from the premise that people just want to attend 5 or 6 games per year and don't care if they are home or away then your logic makes sense. I personally doubt that's the case for most half season buyers. It certainly isn't for us.

Removing half season tickets would be a terrible idea. Since when does it make sense to take away a revenue option that works for many in an attempt to force people to buy season tickets?

You will not force half season ticket holders to convert, you will instead force them to watch the games on Watch ESPN.

FWIW, I've never been called by the general fund either.

Dumb plan if that's true. Cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Every year the Yosef Advisory Board has a phone-a-thon to reach out to potential donors and the staff works at it throughout the year.

If you haven't been contacted by the Yosef Club or App Fund I bet your contact information you provided the university is out of date. When I've participated in those events I'd estimate 75% of the phone numbers provided were inaccurate or old.

Look at the number of staff and it is clear why that can't contact all 100k plus. I know they have volunteer help at times but still. I get email constantly from them until I re-up every year and they actually worked with me this year and last to be sure I did not have to drop down. They do a good job.

Why not conscript students year-round? It's a valuable sales experience.

This is terrible I know but my wife and I have only bought full season tickets 2 times in the past, opting instead for the mini pack. The reason is simple; we have a son who plays soccer almost every Saturday during football season. I am leaning hard towards buying season tickets in 2016 regardless of how many games we can attend to support the program. Can anyone give me an idea of the cost options for two adults and one child so I can begin the sales process with my wife. She and I are both App Alums who give to the University regularly, enjoy coming to Boone and love App State football.

We have opted to increase our YC donation in lieu of buying additional tickets that will almost certainly go unused. I suppose we could just reverse that arrangement if they get rid of half season packages, but I hope they don't.

I'd be ok with taking it out of the mini-pack. I don't know the logistics on them, but why not have a game in both packs to keep both at 3 games?

If we're going to include the Miami game in a 3-pack, I think the 3 games should be Miami, and the last two or a Thursday night game. It needs to include the lower attended games. With that said, I'd be surprised if Miami is included in a mini-season pack.

Guys, the same seats are sold in both packages. So they aren't going to leave a game out nor can they sell one twice. Maybe we shouldn't sell single game tickets anymore either

imop....add endzone seats...hillside area....that would cause a demand because entire hillside can't be sold as g.a. tix and you put louder fans right by field. look...theres not a bad seat in the place generally speaking. i know the hillside has a major overflow for attendance numbers but these people also won't sit on a muddy, wet hill...decreasing our numbers on grey days. they might sit on a damp bleacher...with a better view...closer...louder. imop...thoughts?

I don't know if that's the reason, but the Appalachian Fund is raises funding for the University's colleges. When I worked for the App Fund (2002), it was essentially supplemental to the state funding--making up the difference.

The Yosef Club was not part of this. I have been contacted by the App Fund every year since I've graduated (2003) and once becoming a YC member, I get called when it's getting close to the renewal deadline and my lazy butt hasn't renewed.

I agree that YC should be hitting the pavement pounding for dollars, but I don't want it to be at the expense of the App Fund.

It's not terrible. There are all kinds of fans and kids playing weekend tournament ball is a very good reason not to be in Boone. App football will always be there. You get to enjoy watching your kids play for a very short time. Mini packs have their place IMO.

If you want a pair of season tickets near the 50 yard line, you have to donate at least $500 to the Yosef Club. Then, you buy your pair of tickets for $175 each. You'll also get a good parking spot.

So, it'll cost you $850.

Or.

You can buy a pair of single-game tickets for every game on the 50 yard line. $42 each. Find a free lot and take the Appalcart or pay $10ish for a spot somewhere.

$504 (or $564 if you want to pay for parking).

You can buy season tickets without a donation for $175 each and you'll sit in the 'blue' section. That'll save you about $20 on the season. Those savings go away if you miss one game.

There is no real financial incentive to buying season tickets.

A friend of the family was big in the Pirate Club in the Triad area. I remember him talking about how they did a phone tree to try and reach more Pirate alums. Maybe the different Alumni Chapters (Charlotte, W-S/G'boro, Asheville,Raleigh, Richmond, Charleston and Atlanta) could team up with the Yosef Club to solicit more donations through some sort of phone tree. We may not be able to hit all 100k but maybe we can make more headway. Incentivize the program by catering a tailgate and/or giving the winning chapter a chance to watch the game from a suite or an all expense (hotel and bus) paid game weekend for the winning chapter.

On top of what Clayton said, there's now a ticket deal for every game. 4 for $99, $15 individuals for the last home game, etc. People are expecting it now.

I do think there needs to be a nice discount to people who donate to the Yosef Club and get a parking spot and/or season ticket buyers. There's no difference between buying each game individually or a season ticket.

Gonzo wrote:I think pulling the endzone seats is short-sighted. 2015 was the perfect storm, scheduling wise, for poor attendance on the heels of two years of a lackluster on-field product and post season ineligibility. 2016 brings us an ACC home game against a 5-time BCS national champ led by a very high profile coach in his second game as the HC of the Hurricanes, on the heels of what might be an 11-win season for the Apps.

Forcing people to commit early is a bad idea as well, especially with my age group. Aziz Ansari had a really good stand up bit about this. People are flaky in 2015. If you make people commit before August to plans in November they're just going to say no. I don't think fundamentally changing our ticket sales strategy will be effective. As some have mentioned, we're not too far removed from averaging close to 30,000. With the way we're winning, we will get there again soon so long as the Conference stops screwing us over with holiday games and multiple week day games. DG's emphasis should be on making sure we aren't shafted a third year in a row.

Marketing needs work re: season ticket sales. Personally, my girl friend and I are joining Yosef this year and getting season tickets now that I'll finally be done with law school. I'm 26 and a half. Class of 2011. I have never been called or otherwise solicited by the Yosef Club and neither have any of my friends who didn't inquire themselves about joining. I've heard people on here talk about our phone center. I have some friends who went to NCSU who worked in theirs calling alums all day asking for WPC membership. One of them solicited Phillip Rivers once. If we indeed have a program like that I don't know if they're understaffed or what.
Many of my friends who have never been involved in the Yosef Club are in the same boat. Maybe we aren't collecting info properly for our grads, but it seems like the university has no trouble calling for pledges to the general fund. I was talking to a former coach of ours who is now coaching elsewhere and he said the Yosef Club has never once asked him for a donation. That blew my mind.

That $500 donation is worth a lot more to those student athletes and it one of the easiest checks I write each year.

I don't give to the Yosef Club based upon what I get in return.

One idea to help raise our ticket sales would be to open season ticket sales before the holidays. Mom asks recent grad what they'd like for Christmas, they may say season tickets vs. I don't know.

The issue is the conference schedule isn't out. But just thinking out loud.
