I heard that too. I don't call 2,000+ tickets a "handful".

Assumed he was just using that phrase to push folks to purchase tix ASAP. Hope I'm wrong, though, and we are almost sold out. Regardless, the rock will be out of control, I will be as loud as I can be, and I've been looking forward to being at this game for many, many months.

In every ad we use we always say "only a handful of tickets remain ". I doubt this is literal.

I agree it just seems to be a marketing scheme , but at this early stage of our FBS development "we gotta do what we gotta do." It will be awhile before we can again call a sell out only when the stadium is jammed cheek to cheek with 30,000 rabid, raucus fans. But we are gradually getting there.

Just finished doing my best impression of Mr.Doug Glenn (counting the seats at Elon) :D . If I counted correctly , clicking on each section and counting seats in lieu of going with the numbers offered if you hover, I came up with 2093 seats left at this time.
Feel good about the walk up crowd with the updated weather forecast. Can definitely see some folks spilling onto hill for this one ! Can't wait !

You are correct. If we have 30,000 tickets to sell and there are 2,000 unsold, that's less than 7% of the total available tickets remaining ... a statistical "handful".

Someone mentioned earlier that the University can just release more tickets as demand grows, adding GA tickets for the hill and the area between the west stand and the field house. Does anyone really have an idea what full capacity would really be if both GA areas were shoulder to shouldler packed like sardines?
“When you take that field today, you've got to lay that heart on the line, men. From the souls of your feet, with every ounce of blood you've got in your body, lay it on the line until the final whistle blows.”

At this point, don't worry about it. We're going to have a great crowd. Late comers are just gravy. For all of us going to the game, we are App State's 12th MAN. With it comes a responsibility to be ready to give this game our ALL! Let's commit to 4 QUARTERS; no letting down. FULL EFFORT ALL THE WAY! With our raucous let's cause at least 2 turnovers. But let's do it showing good sportsmanship to our visitors, always with class. Go Apps!

Hear hear. If you see someone beside you trying to leave, don't let them. Tie them up and make them stay.

I've always disliked the number of people who leave their reserved seat to sit on the hill. It's never enough to fill the hill, so the stands end up looking 1/4 empty and the hill looks 3/4 full. Idk, personally I'd rather see a 100% full stadium with 0 aluminum.

That's not much less than the number of seats he had to count at Elon.

Daphne, just a clarification, I thought the 2,000 unsold number was what we needed for a sellout of 25K since thats our capacity? I know once we are sold out they still give out 5-7K for General Admission. I was there for the Elon game of 30+.

Yeah, believe tickets remaining are for the 23k or so 'official seats'.

The 23k official seats less the student allotment of approximately 9k.

Ah, never thought of that. Assumed we just considered the 'official seats' as actual seats and not the gen admission ones.

Either way, by the looks of the games I've seen, this is probably the best attended SBC game of the year. The production crews might actually use wide shots for once.

I know I will get grief from some of you for making this observation but I just received an e-mail from the Catawba Valley ASU Alumni chapter inviting all area APP fans to come watch the game at the Hickory Tavern in Hickory (just 40 minutes from Boone). Everyone who attends this event will have a reason for not being able to make the trip to Kidd Brewer Stadium and support the players when they need it the most, but I find it hard to believe that you can't make it to Boone and watch the game live, but be able to get out of the house for several hours and watch it on the tube. If this gathering was in Atlanta or even Raleigh, I would be more accepting. Again, just one man's observation. Let the bashing commence.

Pretty ridiculous on the Hickory chapter....I would send an email to the chair.

Also, how cool would it be if we could get a solid 16k students to come out.......I mean, were at what? Like 18000 on campus now right (including grad students/hickory satellite)?

The game is already on TV - is a viewing party going to draw people who would have otherwise attended? No, it's going to give people who would have otherwise watched at home (or not at all) a chance to come out an socialize.
