Re: Clemson Trip
Can someone tell me what the deal is with the alumni tailgate? My group and I never go to those things as we still like to mix it up and drink like we're 20 at Kinsington Meadows.
Do you have to buy tickets? Do you have to park in a certain place? etc

Re: Clemson Trip
To know the specifics, go to appstate.edu, alumni, tailgates. The tailgate will be located in the Edgar Brown Univ Union Bldg, off of Highway 93, just east of the stadium. The hours are 9 to noon; cost is $40/adult. The meal will be like a brunch and I suspect with the $40 comes two alcohol tickets, beer or wine.

Re: Clemson Trip
Unfortunately, I can't make the game. I do however find it very odd that tickets to the alumni tailgate are more expensive than tickets to the game itself. $40 vs. $35.

Re: Clemson Trip
My wife and I are probably driving down to Greenville Thursday night. We're going to see the sights Friday morning/afternoon, then head down to Clemson Friday. We should be there for the App gathering Friday night and start tailgating early Saturday morning.
This will be my first trip to Clemson. I'm pumped.

At the spring tour they said the Friday night Yosef event would be in Greenville. Has that been changed to Clemson?

This is what we were thinking of doing after spending night in Greenville. Can anyone tell me about traffic on 123 if we leave at say 8:15 ish?Apps03 wrote:This is the correct answer. It should be starting to get fairly heavy by then. Will probably back up some in Easley and then be heavy once you get close to Clemson. We plan on arriving by 8:00 am.

Re: Clemson Trip
It's usually around $25, but this particular tailgate (because of the rules they had to work with) will feature an open wine/beer bar. Typically, you get two drinks with your ticket, but this year you can drink all the wine and beer you want--resulting in a higher ticket price.AppDawg wrote:Unfortunately, I can't make the game. Re: Clemson Trip
Seems like ECU and VT several years ago were in the $40 range. Regardless, A 3 hour event with bacon and eggs as the main courses it just seems steep. Especially at $20 for kids. If Liquor was part of the open bar or announced a portion of proceeds go to the Appalachian Fund/Alumni Association, then a little more explainable.ASUMountaineer wrote:It's usually around $25, but this particular tailgate (because of the rules they had to work with) will feature an open wine/beer bar. Re: Clemson Trip
Yeah, at that price point it's certainly not a slam dunk for many people. We were planning to get down early and set up a tailgate, but we're planning to attend the Alumni Tailgate. Of course, we're leaving the kiddo behind with the grandparents. I'm mostly paying for convenience and to mingle with fellow Mountaineers.AppDawg wrote:Seems like ECU and VT several years ago were in the $40 range. Re: Clemson Trip
My tentative plan is still to tailgate on the golf course. It's free, just first come first served, and less than a mile walk to the stadium. Seems many of us are thinking the same thing. We should organize something just a little bit.

I'm coming from Charlotte. Any tips or little known short cuts instead of dealing with 85?

Might land on the golf course as well. Need some other members of the black and gold family to tailgate with!APPdiesel wrote:My tentative plan is still to tailgate on the golf course. Re: Clemson Trip
We're going to do a post game tailgate to wait for the traffic to clear. The 12:30 kickoff just makes it too early of a morning for the normal routine.

Re: Clemson Trip
A group of at least 6 of us will be camping on Lake Keowee at Crooked Creek RV Park (http://www.crookedcreekrvpark.org/). My family and I go here every summer and it's a really nice camp ground. Bathrooms are nice, showers are nice, etc. We will likely just be tent camping, but the RV spots are really nice as well.

This is our plan as well. Hitting up Esso after the game is going to be great. Never been there with the opposing team colors on before.JTApps1 wrote:We're going to do a post game tailgate to wait for the traffic to clear.
