I fully believe Scott just doesn't have the ability to motivate the players. Even during the soon to be very distant "glory years" the assistants weren't all that strong, but Coach Moore had the ability to harness emotion and strength. Satterfield comes off as a whiner, and I fully remember Coach Moore always heavily supervised the offensive parts of practice. Defense under Wiley and Jones were mostly left to their own devices. Coach Moore had more faith in the product Wiley would churn out week to week than he ever had under Scott or the "play calling committee". It is telling when the head coach hovers on one particular part of the practice field. Coach Moore also had a heavy hand in special teams, which in 2003 and 2004 were rather weak and mistake heavy (just like right now). The ship got righted when emphasis was added. I don't think anything rash needs to happen just yet, but I will say unless something similar to the 2004 off-season happens at the end of the season get ready to start ponying up buyout cash to cut this guy loose.

Scott has shown he does not yet have the ability to manage the game. (See the end of 1st half last week) Team is certainly lacking motivation, last year was the same but we all said they had nothing to play for. Players certainly do not seem to be improving under coach, week to week, and continue to make the same mental mistakes. I know you have to learn on the job to be a HC, but some just do not have the aptitude for some positions. At this point Scott cannot be bought out due to money, so we have to watch him learn and hope that he does. There are a myriad of problems at this point. S&C, recruiting, lack of experience on staff, etc. Long odds to overcome. I am NOT an advocate of firing at this point, basically because it is a moot point. But we HAVE to see improvement, at least somewhere. Hell, I would be happy to see the guys be entertaining and act as if their hair is on fire, even if we lose. That would be improvement.

I look at it this way, based on the first 2 games, we will see an average attendance of 24k ish, last year we were at 24 800, 12-27,900, 11-28,000 and 10-29,400. So, roughly we are going to drop this year about 4k people, at $30 a ticket, that's 120k per game and 720k for the season in lost revenue.
We cannot afford that, we don't have an AD and our first year in FBS. Increase costs for schollys, travel, etc. I'll submit that we cannot afford such a drop. Bottom line, its revenue. So while we hope Scott does well, financially He HAS to get the job done.

I disagree about S@C and recruiting, it looks like the new S@C is really good, and given time, we will see a big improvement on the field, recruiting , this latest class was ranked by rivals as the best in the SBC, now, getting the talent and developing the talent are two different things, and that's where the jury is still out on SS and the staff. SS is going to get 3 full years to turn this thing around, he just signed a contract extension for 4 more years, I understand what your saying about lost ticket revenue, but, at this time we just cant afford to pay his salary and the salary of the new coach. My feeling is if we do not see a noticeable improvement by the end of next year, the administration would be totally justified in letting him go.

We were never the biggest but we were the fastest and bet conditioned team on the field for many years. As others have mentioned this started with the coaching exodus and how that cost us on the field and more importantly with recruiting. The OL coach change was a disaster and the strength and fitness program fell off a ledge. We have yet to recover from either.

It's pathetic that this game is even in doubt, let alone that we may well lose. Pretty sure this is our last shot at a win this season :(

We'll win this one. You're right it shouldn't be this clo0se early in the 2nd half---tied. Scored in less than one minute. We clearly have more talent and a better coach although still in OJT.

Liberty could have 60 points if they'd throw the ball every time.

I was merely trying to show a modicum of faith...unlike the rest of the MMB'ers. At least I was only off by a touch down until the very end. How did you fare, smart aleck?

Yes, I am being a smart alek, No I have no faith in this team or staff. Mainly the staff. I left my seat in the 4th and stood on the hill at the North side. Left when we decided not to go for the TD, but ran the ball to the right hash. Heard the PA announcer say the kick was missed. Laughed.
