I found out today that Coach Joe Eller of Gastonia passed away about 6 months ago. I met him at the golf course where I was working 3 years ago and found out that he was an alum and former football player under coach E. C. Duggins. He was one of the renown “Duggins’ Boys.” He was a real treat to talk to and to get some insight into Mountaineer football way back in the day. His stories of Coach Duggins were epic to say the least!

Re: Former football player passing
I worked with Joe on some CTE projects in the summer, we shared plenty of stories of playing and coaching football.scatman77 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 07, 2026 5:42 pmI found out today that Coach Joe Eller of Gastonia passed away about 6 months ago.
