I wonder what the team on the field today would have done this year.

It was always the right decision to play this game. Everyone involved should be commended for it. The players that decided to play, mostly. They played hard and put in the effort. I'm proud of them.

This game showed once more that the offensive play caller is a hinderance to this program. Dowell needs to let go of his pride and hire an OC. His gifts seem more geared toward being an overall decision maker and recruiter.

All fair points. If he wants to one day be a head coach at the highest level, he needs to only be a head coach.

Non-rhetorical question: What OC do you think could scheme up an offensive plan that works with a 3rd string QB who throws an interception every other play, and a 5th string QB/DB with 2/10 throwing accuracy?

This one stings a bit not going to lie, mostly because it was against the Stink. The game had a chance to really snowball and get out of hand and our guys managed to keep it from doing so.

Proud of the guys that decided to play for their teammates and the Block A on the helmet. The effort was certainly appreciated by me.

Need to see some progress next year. Hope DLO can get it done.

How about the rest of the season. This game was not something new. I also have to wonder why he was 5th string. We need an OC and QB coach.

I second this, what exactly different needs to be done from a play calling standpoint? Offense moved the ball well all things considering.

To except this game with our roster should be a fireable offense.

Offense looked the best it has honestly. With a depleted roster.

Qbs just made boneheaded mistakes. OL moved the LOS and RB’s ran with vengeance. WR for the most part did their job. Dowell can’t make the easy reads for the QBs.

We had 5 qbs on the roster…and I’ll say
we have 0 heading into next year.
Try again.

Agree. Neither of the App St QBs today had the experience or the proactive delivery release of the ball to be passing over the middle of the field. They are young and do not have much experience. 11 holds onto the ball too long (after receiver is already open) and 6 is just not a great passer. This is why the longer receptions were to 8 down the field. Personally, I believe 11 could become a serviceable passer with more experience. However, he is not a treat to run. Not sure he could take the hits.
Man, if 6 were even close to accurate as Zac or Taylor, he would be all conference given running ability.

The kids showed up and played hard, I’ll give them that.

Loggains landed some solid recruits for 2026, let’s hope we see improvement on the field and on the sideline.

It’s put up or shut up time from here on out.

About what I expected today. Proud of the guys that showed up and gave their all and if not for the interceptions we could have made it a game. The 4th quarter made it clear to me why they switched 6 to DB. Clearly he is a high level athlete and excellent runner but his pass game is lacking. Perhaps after today they will give him a second look with more reps in spring ball and he could become a good QB2 next year. I do think that we desperately need a dual threat QB next year. I also hope as others have suggested that DLO will swallow his pride and hire an OC.......Gillen should STRONGLY suggest that next week and perhaps hire an OC in lieu of replacing the special teams coach if funding is an issue. Given what we lost from last years sub-par team I really didnt expect much more this year although the 4-2 start had me excited. BTW someone mentioned 1977 as the last time we lost more than 8 games. As I recall we only played 11 games back then so we must have been 2-9 that year. We were 5-6 after 11 games this year for an apples for apples comparison. Anyway, this was a tough season but I have confidence that DLO and team will have success in the portal (I have heard some of you say our NIL budget is doubled for next year) to go with our highly rated recruiting class so expectations for next year should be higher. Go App!

Agree. At this point in his career he has proven to be a below average play caller. He needs to let it go if he wants to be an above average head coach.

We did have 400 yards of offense today, with a patchwork crew. I don’t even really like Loggains but I’m not sure what everyone was expecting here.

379 yards and 10 points to show for it. 3-10 on 3rd down. I can give grace to the execution given the lineup today, but his situational IQ is lacking for someone with his pedigree.

One that sees we're throwing interceptions in plus territory and gaining yards while running and simply runs the ball?

To be fair, Wilson made the wrong read (2 wrong reads) on his 1st INT. It was an RPO and if he hands it off to Lewis we get a first down, maybe a TD. He didn’t. And then he had Stroman on the pull, post/wheel combo for a post TD. He read it wrong and threw the wheel. Game reps would have probably helped but we had 2 potential good plays here and he just chose the wrong one.

I guess just call the run though, don’t even give them an option, since they can’t make the right decisions.

Gillon- just throw it away- both of them. But yep, run the ball. Don’t give him the option to throw.

The result surprised me in that at times it was interesting and fun. QB play makes me wonder what might have been and truly the offense looked better to me w/o the TO’s. What stings was the ESPN commentator saying we are trying to get to JMU level. Fuck that.
