There may have been more fights if this were the Bourbon Bowl. We played in the Water Bowl two years ago.

I can tell you who won't be going, unfortunately. There will be no App State marching band at the Birmingham Bowl this year. Provost decided against funding the expenses for the band to be there.

Wife & I were going to travel to the game to cheer on App and see our daughter play in the band, but we canceled our plans. Too bad because Birmingham seems like a great town to explore.

Either way, Go App and beat GS!

Is the decision from the Provost "we don't care" or "we are broke"? Would it been different had we been invited "initially" after finishing 6-6?

If the band did what the Football team did and packed all their shit away for the season and sent everyone home, it's likely logistical.

If the band did what the Football team did and packed all their shit away for the season and sent everyone home, it's likely logistical.

From what I've been told as a member, it's all money stuff. Athletics, the fb team, the chancellor, and the rest of the university wanted us there because Stink is bringing their whole band (granted they're much closer) and it looks bad to not have us there, but the provost said there's not enough money.

We all cleared our schedules to be ready to go, and the non-marching brothers were ready to hand everything back out such as uniforms, instruments, etc., but it was a money problem

That sucks for you guys and I’m sorry. Ironically, you all are actually committed to App State, unlike most of the football roster, who will Still get to play in the bowl. But what I’ve been told on this board, this is App being at the right place and doing the right thing by playing in this game.

Whelp, found a hotel with an indoor pool for the girls while Dad heads to the game. Using cashback, a 3 night hotel stay was cheaper than getting 3 tickets for everyone. So needless to say, I'll be looking for somewhere to tailgate pre-game.
9/9 as far as bowl trips go, thrilled to be able to make it work!
