I still hate Marshall and haven't forgiven them for the 1987 semifinal game from my freshman year!

I was at App 94 and 95. Big games.
I used to hate them.. then Hollywood and We Are Marshall film...
And last year in Huntington. People coming up to us to check on us and inquiring about Helene..
I'm not crying.. crying
Made it hard to "hate" them... Just want to beat them really bad ..

All kidding aside, I want App to win this game…and not for the usual rivalry-oriented reasons.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Nov 17, 2025 3:52 pmI was at App 94 and 95. Big games.

I'll second the kindness showed to us in Huntington last year. They were beyond exceptional.

I was in Huntington in '95. After the win, the small contingent of App fans were told by the Huntington police to, "...zip your coats up, take your hats off and walk quietly your cars." I never went back. Glad to hear they have changed.

I honestly think we get destroyed. Wish I didn’t. I think we lose out and there are very serious conversations about a new coach.

I was there as well, walking out of the stadium smoking a huge cigar after the win. A group of Turd fans walked up to us and one of them took the cigar out of my mouth and started smoking it while his other friends told us to go back to Boone. Unfortunatley, bro put the lit end of the cigar in his mouth and charred the hell out of his toungue.
After a bit of a standoff, we laughed our asses off all the way back to our car, good times

I’ve always thought their fan base and our fan base were pretty similar. I thin with our new found wine and cheese segment we may be more different nowAppOrange wrote: ↑Tue Nov 18, 2025 12:32 pmI was there as well, walking out of the stadium smoking a huge cigar after the win. If you look at on the field results it’s not even close. Marshall lost 35-23 to jmu and will be bowl eligible with a win Saturday. And while we’re on the topic, Gibson REALLY inherited a dumpster fire after Huff left and he’s done pretty well.

Was Gibson an option? I didn't think he wanted to come here.
Isn't he from WV?

I do consider you all a rival, but not "hated." My brother lives in Asheville. I have fond memories of our IAA rivalry years. I nearly jumped through the ceiling celebrating when THAT kick was blocked in the Big House. I'm looking forward to the game.

Rivals are becoming friends while new comers are pushing rivalries with us.

Yeah, I hate Marshall and that isn't changing anytime. Furman sucks also.

Re: FB vs the Thundering Turds, Sat at 2:30
A couple of weeks ago, I was eyeing these final two games as a chance to sneak into a bowl game. Games I thought at the time were coin flips but winnable. Right now I cannot say I have that same level of minimal confidence. We are hurt so badly everywhere, and last week was the kind of game that causes many a season to be punted on from within the locker room.
Everyone wants to look for reasons to fire the coaching staff yesterday. This is absolutely the type of game that can show off their current coaching skills in terms of motivation. Win or lose, I think the effort our team shows out there will be the most important thing we see.

I do agree, if I see some fight out of our players it will be a very good sign that the coaches are doing the right thing and I will probably reevaluate my position. Hope that happens, I just don't have much faith in it.

Re: FB vs the Thundering Turds, Sat at 2:30
My thought is we split the next 2, but worry that the 2nd game is the won we could win but at that point there isn't anything to play for if we lose to Marsha.
So IF we somehow win this first one I think we have a better chance to win the last game.
