Re: Official Snowballs in Hell prediction thread
For whatever reason, JMU has trouble beating App State in sporting everts even when they have objectively better teams. I think this trend holds (not really but trying to be as positive as possible) and we pull the upset. DL gets his first win against a ranked team.

I'm holding out the tiniest bit of hope that we are bad enough in the players eyes that they're looking ahead a bit. Sure the fans won't, but what the fans think and what the kids on the field think many times aren't aligned. If we can get a jump on them before they wake up, we at least make a game of it. I'll take being within 10 points going into the 4th quarter, we've shown we can score late.

Re: Official Snowballs in Hell prediction thread
Most sane folks on here understood at the beginning of the season that this was the deffintition of a rebuidling year. While I don't like losing, and it sucks right now (and will Saturday as well), just remember that this was to be expected by most of us (injuries didnt help). As long as we see improvement next year, we should go bowling and then on to year 3 with higher expectations. Since we are still the marquee match-up on most every ones schedule, I do not not think they look past us and lay it on pretty good. Hang in there. let's give this staff a chance and take our whoopin. JMU's time is comming, they will have a similar fate as they contiue to impress and start gettign thier staff and coaches plucked after every decent year. I dispise the portal . . .

Re: Official Snowballs in Hell prediction thread
JMU has actually already had their time with losing coaches, they just have proven to be much more adept at handling the issue then we have been. They lost Houston after he won a natty for them and brought in Cig who oversaw the move to FBS in very successful fashion, and when he leaves they bring in Chesney who really hasn't missed a beat. They have had 3 coaches since 2019 and so have we, lets not act like they aren't in the same boat as we are. They just choose to hire lower level successful head coaches with proven track records whereas we like to try to catch lightening in a bottle with a first time head coach. JMU was 9-4 last year after losing their coach and a great many significant players, they added 64 new players last year (more than we did this year) and still managed a good season. Nobody up there complained about a rebuilding year, they just kept winning and showed that a new coach and a bunch of new players can win from the get go.AppOrange wrote: ↑Thu Nov 13, 2025 1:22 pmMost sane folks on here understood at the beginning of the season that this was the deffintition of a rebuidling year. My point was the constant coaching tournaround will eventaully, 100% get you. They had Houston, Cig and Chesney, we had Moore, Satt and Drink. We will see what happens on their next hire, maybe it is a good one, we were rolling and then we wern't. I think this happens to them as well here in the near future. They did naviagte it well with Ches, but I still think as dominant as they look in the conference, so were we not long ago, the more success you have in this era of college football, the harder it will be to have any consistent success at the G6 level.t4pizza wrote: ↑Thu Nov 13, 2025 2:44 pmJMU has actually already had their time with losing coaches, they just have proven to be much more adept at handling the issue then we have been. Re: Official Snowballs in Hell prediction thread
I think success is harder to come by now than it has ever been at any level because the playing field is as level as it has ever been. If it were not that level so many high-profile coaches at high profile programs would not have fired their head coaches as they have this season.
It makes me smile to some extent. Not the fact that App is having trouble, but the fact that we are not the only ones... especially the ones with greater resources than Appalachian.

Although we've had their number the last two times, don't think so this time. Can't afford to provide them a complementary TD on their first drive, but, we probably will. Can't afford to throw interceptions into the end zone, but, we probably will. Hoping for the best, but, expecting the worst.
