Not exactly. I don’t know names but I am told that DL has most of staff filled out. Several can’t be announced because they are going to coach one last game for their current team. He is doing a good job of retaining players overall.

Got to relax and be a little patient. No regret on this hire yet. We are a bit of a rebuild now so we have to give him a little time. You seem to be pulling against them and that only hurts our program. A true App fan should be pulling for DL because if he fails our program fails.
Every year in the G5 - NIL Portal will be a rebuild Im an afraid, regardless of the coach. Must retain the best you can.
This is true. Some rebuilds might be doable in 1 year and others might take 2-3 years. It just depends on how much turnover they have or how low the talent level is in general.
I just don’t see how this current form of chaos can support a 2-3 rebuild. This is likely going to be a year over rebuild due to the lack of guardrails among NIL and the ease that one can jump in the portal until there is a balancing out a norm.
You have mentioned before how coach continuity can effect whether you have success and you still need some form of player continuity as well. We have to sign good HS classes and not only hit on a lot but retain and develop a solid number of them.

I am thinking we will have legislation with contracts and buyouts on players at some point so we might want to be in that mindset for when it happens. The odds are a little higher of keeping a player out of HS than from the portal.
This is what I mentioned a week or two ago. Assuming we stay in a non -salary cap environment, the players enter into unguaranteed multi year contracts like NFL, ..with a twist to be like coach contracts that you have buyouts if kids gets better deal ...so the NIL gets some of or all their investment back if kid wants to leave before contract is up. At that point, you do have two willing parties, not under duress, entering the contract.
If player bets on himself, maybe one year contract..then school has decision as to whether it wants to do one year contract.
Is it perfect, No. There will be Holdouts I am sure....but it is a start.

I imagine it will be difficult to hold onto our top players and bring in top talent from the portal when we don’t even have 1/3 of our coaching staff hired. My hope is that we’d be able to get some great coordinators to help bring in some solid transfers. I’m starting to lose confidence but hopefully there is a plan in place beyond my comprehension and we buck up in January.

Not holding on to top players. Programs like ours are like jr college training programs for larger programs.

We’re missing out on the medium ones, too, because they don’t know who our OC and DC are to see if they’ll be a good fit.

I would rather wait and get the right people than rush and get the wrong people.

Just FYI, the only of the 10 on-field assistant coaches left from 2024 is Lance Ware. S&C Coach Greenhalgh is sticking around too.

Sorry for the snappy response. Ponce was gone regardless of who the HC was.

Have the others left and or not officially been retained? Where are some of them headed?

All are still under contract unless we let them out if it. Until March I believe.

Per the Scoop, Dawsey is headed to Jacksonville State. Clark is headed to UCF. No word on anyone else yet.

If you put your hand in a bucket of water when you take it out it sticks to your hands.
