Some of you seem to think 5-6 is the absolute bottom for us. It isn’t. Not knowing anything about Lindenwood but 1-11 is a very real possibility. This “burn it to the ground” mentality is what causes cycles like ECU is in.

Our situation is far from apples to apples with what ECU did in 2015. You can argue the reasons, but App has objectively been in a backslide since 2022. ECU had one 5-7 season with a 3rd string QB and axed Ruffin because of disgruntled donors behind the scenes. That dynamic, along with their incompetent AD, made it very difficult to hire a new guy of any quality. Hence Scotty Montgomery.

We can keep looking in the rear view mirror and beating the dead horse coaching staff to death. They are gone. I would rather look out the windshield and see what we need in horses to run this race. We need a lot of help if we are going to turn around.

I’d say coaching was the problem this year, not the personnel. Game plan on both sides of the ball was stale. I think our HC, OC, and DC got complacent. Glad some of the studs are coming back.

It might have been both.I believe the former staff got lazy on the recruiting trail. The new staff is looking to upgrade the roster .

Its certainly possible but some of the classes in recent cycles have been some of our best on paper. I'm certain any new staff is looking to upgrade the roster. I think its hard to judge whether the staff got complacent but no doubt things didn't go as planned. It did seem it was time for a change. Time will tell. I think we're all anxious to see it on the field even it requires some initial patience.

I think that's the problem. They went after good classes on paper. Darrynton Evans has been very vocal since Clark took over they were recruiting the stars on paper and not the "Dawgs" like him and others under Satt

I think it is very possible. We still likely bring in someone but if Joey can get a court decision like the Vandy QB, I have it on good authority that he would be our QB in 2025.

DLO might have names in mind and I would think Joey might look to follow Ponce or be looking for a fresh start, if he does get another year. The ruling was for Pavia only but does open that door so we will see what happens.

There are a lot of quality QBs in the portal and I am hoping instead of just waiting on whether Joey can and wants to return that we land someone within 2-3 weeks.

I doubt the Pavia decision is final. If I recall it was just a preliminary injunction, which means it likely will go to trial.
