We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

This is to nobody in particular but probably mainly directed to the resident experts who seem to know it all. If I’m a prospective potential coach sell me on App State and convince me to want the job. Relieve my initial concerns about short leashes and the lunch mob mentality that exists here especially after you fired one of your own with a winning record.
Disclaimer- this isn’t a pro Clark slant but rather an impartial question.
5 years is not a short leash especially considering where we were in 2019 and where we are now.
Fau and uncc just fired their coaches with less than 2 seasons- that’s a short leash and fau had a very successful coach at previous stops. Uncc is interviewing a lot of the same candidates, doesn’t seem to be much of a talking point.
I’m looking for the candidate that views our passionate fan base as an asset and not a liability.
We’ve gone over the #s ad nauseam and it’s clear we slipped significantly with no real hope on the horizon

Not going to lie, I’m all in if there is an actual lunch mob.

Some guys are just meant to be G5 coaches. Look at Barry Odom's record at Missouri (similar to Brown at WV) and then look at how he turned around a bad UNLV program in one year.

Brown was 3-17 vs ranked teams, and never had WVU ranked in 6 seasons. Clark has more top 10 wins than Brown over the same time period

Brown is out of the mix so nothing to worry about there.

I don't think Neal Brown will be our next coach. I may be nuts but I believe our target is coaching this weekend. If so, we may know our new coach by tomorrow. It's going to cost us some $$$$s

Lunch mob..

Got me on that one. My short leash piece really wasn’t about Clark necessarily it had more to do with letting a coach go with a winning record overall who by all accounts had a clean program. And that, again wasn’t to say the change wasn’t needed. Some here feel like the program has fallen off the cliff and others see it as a couple of tough seasons. All perspective. Whoever gets the gig will absolutely face challenges particularly with what could be a complete refill of a roster.

This is what I’d tell them if they asked about the short leash after Clark took a perennial conference championship team and had 16-17 record in past three seasons against FBS teams and only made a bowl game once…”Bye Felecia”.

I don’t think we need to worry about Brown at this point. Just a feeling that the bus left the station and he wasn’t on it. And I don’t think it’s any big loss.
I feel like a lot of people were only enthusiastic about him because of the perceived money advantage he would have brought (being paid by WVU).
Give 'em hell!

I don’t know that Brown is out. I don’t think he’s presently number one. It could come back to him but it seems things are headed in a different direction. We aren’t there yet but it’s winding down.

Those that talk about lynch mobs or our fans short leashes.... Do y'all read other boards? We are tame...and I mean tame compared to other fanbases.

Agreed, seems like he’d be hired now if he was the guy. If they’re still interviewing, then probably think we have better options or we couldn’t agree to any terms.

First, I would say that 5 years isn’t a short leash. As long as I have watched football, coaches have generally been given 4 years to build their program.
Second, a winning record isn’t our goal. Our goal is higher, conference championships, etc.
Third, whether you’re one of our own or not, you will be expected to meet expectations.
You said the question was for people who claim to know everything. I know nothing.
However, I do want a coach who can win at least one conference title in 5 years and have a program that isn’t getting worse the longer he’s around.
6-6 and 5-6 in two of the last three years isn’t good enough, period. Especially for a coach who took over a program in great shape.
Clark didn’t take over a mess, he took over one of the best G5 programs in the country, and after 5 years, it’s not that any longer.
Then why are we looking at Neal Brown?
I’m not advocating for Brown.
However, as far as I can see, he hasn’t taken any G5 programs backwards.

I dunno much about Casey woods but that seems to be what we are waiting on. I will go do some research on Woods. What if SMU beats clempsun? Do we wait longer? BTW if SMU loses tonight the playoff committee is going to have a hard job.
Edit … well I just looked to see who he is but saw who his dad was. That makes a lot of sense now.

Question: Jeff Monken has proven to be a good coach. Going 11-1 at Army is wild. But, I don’t know much about him.
If we were to take a look at him, and he took the job, would we run the triple option/wishbone like Army did?
I know he’s been at a few triple option schools. Is that his MO? Or can he coach a west coast/pro style offense? If he can, he might be worth a look. His name seems to be a hot commodity.

Monken is in the mix at two P4 programs near by from what I understand. He’s a heckuva coach .

Pretty sure he did at Ga Southern.
