Re: Coastal Game on ESPN
Can't always blame the defense when the offense is giving the other team the ball and a short field.
Being down 14 in ht first half of a college game is nothing. No panic drills.
2 INTS and 1 fumble.
Another short week another butt kicking, no depth is alarming.

Re: Coastal Game on ESPN
We’ve had success on short weeks before the Clark era and performed very well on national televised games.
We played a below average SBC team and got dominated.
The 10 minute drive in the third was how we used to make teams feel.
You see the core fans at away games and walking up the stairs to my seats last night during the game I saw the faces of fans that no longer believe.
I hope decision makers were at the game and had their eyes open to not only the on the field results, but the apathy and lack of hope our fanbase now has.

That was a really bad night. Horrible announcers. Horrible, ugly field. Really bad team gets beat up by a bad team. Oh well, it will still be exciting to see what "outfit" they will wear next game.

This season marks my 40th year as an App fan. There were times in that time span when fans were upset and voiced their displeasure. There has never been a time when our fans just didn't care until now.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 7:49 amWe’ve had success on short weeks before the Clark era and performed very well on national televised games.

Just listened to the post game presser, it's no longer "our goals are still in front of us", now it's "can't win football games with turnovers", week in and week out the same ol' crap!

An average team's goals are still in front of us. And becoming average would be a step up from where we are.

Re: Coastal Game on ESPN
Joey is a really fun guy to watch sometimes because of those long balls. With that said he is not a great QB. He just isn't. His decision making is just terrible. Much like SC, he is a really good guy who just can't get the job done on a consistent basis. They both want it badly and try as hard as they can but are just held back by the extent of their abilities. We have had much better QBs with arms that were not as strong but who really knew the game, and that is what a QB needs to win games consistently. I believe they will let Coach finish the season. I also think they will continue to play Joey the rest of the season without trying anyone else. One I kind of understand as there is no backup on this staff. The other I don't. Like every other coach for how many years now, we will not EVER give a backup any meaningful time. We like it to be a mystery what will happen the season after our starter leaves.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 6:54 amHow much of the game last night hinged on god awful throws/decisions by Joey? I am by no means putting everything at his feet because he doesn’t play defense and he can’t block for himself but when you have a couple of dudes pulling you down and zero receivers close and you are in FG range pull the ball down and eat it. We were fortunate that at least two other horrible throws didn’t get picked off. The defense started playing well in the second half but you can’t just give the ball away.
It is very sad that It didn't work out, but this year needs to be the end. We need a complete overhaul top to bottom. Next year will not be a lot better without a miracle. A great coach is not going to get us a conference championship with the horses in our stable. We need MUCH better recruiting and that will take time to show fruit. If he is really good at the portal that will help but it is not a cure.
In a perfect world we get a new chancelor named ASAP so they can get their AD and Coach lined up and ready to go. I am not holding my breath.
Our hockey team plays at Liberty this weekend and they are making us proud.

Re: Coastal Game on ESPN
What can the guy really say, he failed. That said the only way to keep from failing is to not try. And I have no doubt that he did his best. But what a way to fail. If he was financially responsible at all he should have saved around 2mill over the last 5 years and then he gets half a mill for walking away from the failure. I wish it would have worked out but I don’t feel terrible for Shawn. I sure wish I could have failed in my 40’s and completely funded a great retirement while doing it.AppSt91 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 10:05 amLooks like a deer in the headlights.beav910 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 9:39 amMDaniels wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 9:29 amWhere can I find presser?WataugaMan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 9:02 amJust listened to the post game presser, it's no longer "our goals are still in front of us", now it's "can't win football games with turnovers", week in and week out the same ol' crap!

I'm sorry to say that is where I find myself. I expect to lose, and I don't really care. I cannot believe I said that.appst89 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 8:54 amThis season marks my 40th year as an App fan. Re: Coastal Game on ESPN
I found myself not getting upset watching us get dominated. I walked out of that stadium for the second time losing to them. This first time was heartbreaking, this time I felt "nothing". That is the state of things.
