Someone should try to be the home team and win there.

Re: Marshall..?
If yall want football in Boone back this season, the quickest way is to volunteer your time to the local areas, and the university. Lots of staff simply can't get to work, even though Ops 3 calls for mandatory staff to come in.

Intel Updates:
My source tells me our fearless leader placed a call to an individual within the program on Friday 9/27 asking could App State potentially play the game on Sunday 9/29 vs Liberty. WOW! The nerve of that guy with a monsoon coming down as the call is placed. (I am not identifying my source based on outing my source)
As of this morning at 9am the football team was in the NEZ lifting weights.
Game is a go! - Operation Dinner Out (name the movie) is a go.

Re: Marshall..?
Most of the webcams (King Street, Convocation Center, Banner Elk, Blowing Rock) are up and at first glance everything appears "normal". Clearly there is major damage and work to be done outside of campus but presuming the major roads are open (I saw parts of 105 were already patched / backfilled), and the surface lots (Rankin, Stadium lots etc..) are habitable I suspect we will host homecoming and Ga State Oct 26.
Maybe open auxiliary lots outside of campus if some surface lots are not available. Thinking Watauga High, State Farm, Sagebrush parking lot...idk just thinking out loud here.

Re: Marshall..?
At this point it's almost insulting. Almost like, they want us to roll over so they can get another mark in the win column so their now exposed strength of schedule looks better for the playoff discussion. I almost say we just don't even bother with them and not even give them the opportunity to play us anytime soon. Go call up JMU, I'd love to see the Dukes give them the treatment they did to UNC just to shut them up. And I bet they'd do it too.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 12:29 pmIntel Updates:

I mean everything I say with complete respect, but you non-local app fans are la la land clueless. For days I’ve watched military helicopters fly in and out of the mountains. I have personally been there myself, It is a war zone, it is apocalyptic in places. Every single human being and resource for emergency management on this end of the state is working night and day. This area is months away MINIMUM from welcoming in a crowd of 40k. Boone is cleaning up, yes, but Watauga County is ground zero for one of the worst natural disasters in American history. There’s absolutely no case where KBS should host a game this year and burden the county and locals with that kind of stress on the infrastructure.

Re: Marshall..?
if i'm reading this correctly Doug Gillin called and asked- maybe early Friday before it was known that it was apocalyptic? Personally, Id like to give Liberty the JMU treatment ourselves.hotrod2001 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 3:22 pmAt this point it's almost insulting. I do not see football in kbs at all this year. This may also impact home basketball games for a certain part of the season...Stonewall wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 3:11 pmUnless you are living this nightmare you can’t understand . No classes until after Oct. 15. I'm sure they will re-asses that date when the time comes.

Re: Marshall..?
Amen. I’m living it with you. We have folks in this area going through the same heartache as the folks in New Orleans back in 2005. Others just don’t get it because they weren’t impacted or can’t remember Hugo.Stonewall wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 3:11 pmUnless you are living this nightmare you can’t understand . Re: Marshall..?
Email says through Oct 11th at 5pm. Is the 14th a holiday or something?
Edit: rest of email loaded, fall break on 14/15th. Being online student I never pay attention to these as the professors don't really give you off any days for online.
Says another update to come by Oct 9th.

Re: Marshall..?
ill be curious if we host a game. a lot can change in 3 weeks in infrastructure. i live here, ive seen some of the damage firsthand, definitely not the worst parts, but ive seen the damage. at some point, and i dont know when that point is, the town and area also need the tourism dollars that a game would bring. im glad i dont have to make that decision because i have no idea what the right thing to do will be when the time comes, but i do know that tourism dollars will help, especially since we're going to miss all of the peak week tourism dollars. if the area can handle it, it will help the area.
