Initial rendering of new Sofield Indoor Facility

The new softball stadium at App 105 won't be done until after the Spring 2024 season, so softball needs the stadium for a while. Construction on the new Sofield can't begin until Summer 2024 at earliest.

Good news is that it's mostly open space on the inside, so 12 months is possible if you have all the supplies (and that's a big if).

No chance in hell the East Side is done before Fall 2025. They haven't even submitted estimates or had real drawings or anything like that.

I do wish Gillin would address the inconsistencies in the renderings, such as wrap-around seating in the East Side piece and no scoreboard or Jerry Moore Plaza in the Sofield drawings.

Theres really nothing to address. These are quick mockups to give people an idea of things and generate excitement and $$$. They aren't official drawings or anything.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned that in the new renderings there are bleachers shown at miller hill in the SEZ. I know lots of folks are up in arms about that. Personally I like the “complete” look of the stadium with bleachers. Probably also safer since you can’t turn it into a slip and slide every game lol

I should clarify I’m referring to the rendering of the new east side in the email that was sent and not the one of the new indoor facility.

I was also communicated that some west side folks have committed to east side (may open up some spots on west side club seats if the moved to loge boxes on east side). Was also communicated that some NEZ commitments to east side. Hopefully, there is demand all around. It would be good for athletics department all around.

This is what I was communicated. I'm assuming that this was communicated to garner the commitment necessary to go forward. The last I had heard was that the funding wasn't there yet for the East side expansion.

Without much math I’m guessing west suites & seats, nez seats and potential east suites and seats have to equal over 3k. Do we have over 3k that can afford a 25k capital gift plus x amount per year plus ticket cost?

It’s not really 3k, it’s more like 700 as those donors will occupy ~4 seats on average.

And for the east side it’s probably 250 families for the seats opening up. Demand could definitely be that high.

Sometimes a couple of families go in together for the capital donation and split the tickets too.
