Context is missing is also a fact. If people want to use wins the first three seasons as a point to defend Clark that’s fine, but most will understand the different circumstances.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 8:30 amThe question was asked by Mr. Craig:

Re: #TeamClark
I agree with you that we are not now. But, every G5 school (including those that are in the Top 10 in wins) have had at least two seasons (in the last 8) where they have won 7 games or fewer, except for App State.appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 7:31 amThat is the point I was making. Eight or nine wins may win the East every so often. But a nine win Sun Belt champion is not likely to be ranked, and not at all likely to get the G5 playoff spot.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 9:01 pmWho fires coaches who go 9-4 or 8-5????appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 6:34 pmThat seems very reasonable (for a change) but 7-6 this year, then what? The hardest coach to fire is the one that goes 9-4/8-5. Clark at his best may be just good enough. NY6/playoff seems out of the question with him. Winning the East? The conference? We are, in fact, three and a half years in and a looooooong way from where we were five years ago.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 6:15 pmUnless he goes 5-7 this year he shouldn't be evaluated until end of 2024.
100% faith that #TeamClark finishes 6-6 or better this year.
75% chance he makes Bowl at this current moment. https://www.teamrankings.com/ncf/projections/standings/
If he gets to 7-5 this year, he will win SBC East in 2024.
A 6-6 season and Bowl loss this year will be big pressure to start 2024.
In the last 8 years, only 9 G5 programs (some of which are going P5) have averaged 8 or more wins.
Only App. State and Boise St. have averaged more than 9 wins.
It wasn't that long ago that we were consistently a top third FBS program. We're not now.
The TBD question is: Is this just part of the cycle that all of the top programs go through, or are we trending towards true mediocrity?
How we finish the year and what we do in 2024 will answer that question.
My personal opinion at this time is that we should ride this out through next year (unless the wheels totally fall off this year). I think the right changes were made in the off-season and the recruits are scheduled to come in (we never know until they show up).
Today's a big day. We need to take care of business against ODU, and we need to thoroughly beat Southern Miss. The coaches need to coach to win and the players need to execute. If we are 5-3/3-1 going into November, we enter the next phase.

Re: #TeamClark
Sure, and not to downgrade Satt, but the Sun Belt was weak in 2016 and 2017. In 2016, only four of the 11 programs had winning records and Idaho was one of them. In 2017, Troy/App/Arkansas State were the only true competitors for the conference. Louisiana wasn't even a player until 2018.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 8:38 amContext is missing is also a fact. And Moore only won 3 conference championships in his first 16 seasons. Seasons 17-22 were incredible with six conference championships and three natty's!
There's always going to be context and circumstance. That's where DG has to sift through it all and figure out where we are and if we are on track.

Re: #TeamClark
Lived through all of that, been a fan since the mid-80s. Satt may have had as much to do with that run as Moore did honestly.
The conference was easier, but recruiting the caliber of athlete to compete was more difficult. Clark has had the luxury of recruiting with very good recent success. The sales pitch is different. We’ve not developed offensive line talent and defense is now in the bottom half of the conference.
We are currently not on track, six games to fix that.

I was just trying to make a point very bluntly. That is, every responsible decision made by the university and athletic dept has to consider “truly viable” options. If my current car is giving me troubles I may not have the budget to buy a new one so I may have to fix what I have. I may lose my butt on trade in or other that will create more problems for me.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 6:48 amGuess we should shut the board down if that’s the bar, apply it to both sides of every debate.
Just making point that some folks on board throw out options that very likely aren’t realistic or feasible and can’t or won’t even acknowledge it.

Fans on a message board don’t need to play AD. Fandom isn’t rational, never has been and never will be. Though i do believe it’s entirely rational to be very frustrated with Clark.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 10:12 amI was just trying to make a point very bluntly. Clarks last presser looked like a man that knows a few donors have been calling the AD. Think he already knows what he has to do this year. Finish 4-2 to get to 7-5.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 10:12 amI was just trying to make a point very bluntly. Re: #TeamClark
I simply answered the question . I did not advocate for firing the HC "now or after Dec" .I want him to be successful , not because I know him and he is a fine person, but because it would mean that we are getting the results of which we are capable.College football is a business however, and I am heavily invested .Therefore I will say what I please , regardless of that being misconstrued.

Who's our opponent today, ODU or App State? It's getting hard to tell with some of these threads.

Re: #TeamClark
I appreciate it! At first I thought your facts were incorrect, but it was me who was wrong. I wasn’t looking at Satterfield’s first year when App played an FCS schedule. I was only looking at first 3 years in FBS, which Satterfield won 28 games his first 3 FBS seasons. Which doesn’t really prove anything.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 8:30 amThe question was asked by Mr. Craig:

I WILL add that season-over-season the win totals went UP for Moore and Satt, they went down each of Clark’s first 3 years.

I'll post it here too.
6-12 in our last 18 games against FBS opponents.
Let me say that again for the hardcore Clark supporters in the back

It’s fucking time.
